painted over dozens of times, it's still visible and beautiful. Now that it's been broken up into apartments, the quirks of making this duplex into 14 functional units are surprising and mysterious. My hallway has a doorbell that's been painted over but it quite noticeable. In the basement, there's a box of ancient, clothbound hardcover books. The exposed brick in the kitchen makes the small apartment much more homey, though the weird 70's wooden hutch adds an almost comical whimsy. The bedroom is long and narrow, much like the bathroom. I'm very curious what the apartment looked like originally and how it got to be this shape. How many incremental changes it went through until it became the bizarre place it is today. The quirks make it original and sweet. If the owners put more attention into detail, this property could easily be expensive condos. I'm glad it's still a diamond in the rough.
