Affordable living right in between Minneapolis & St Paul
August 17, 2018East Hennepin Apartments is quite the underrated gem of an apartment building. A very unassuming 6 unit building right on the edge of Nordeast and close enough to St Paul to have the best of both worlds. The rent was extremely affordable for the unit & location. Full kitchen, plenty of space for 1 or two people, very cozy and perfectly suited in terms of size and amenities for my needs as a working professional. Good water pressure, too. Tenants are respectful and the caretaker is very ...approachable and prompt with any problem that might arise. Included off-street parking and A/C unit are major pluses as well. It's very close to shopping at the Quarry center, a 15 minute bike ride from St Anthony Main, great running & walking options, and multiple food & drink places within walking distance (Insight Brewing and Manning's Cafe are two favorites). There's a bus stop less than a block away with easy access to both downtown Minneapolis and St Paul. Extremely easy access to 280 and southbound 35W as well. Bike to the State Fair! The drawbacks: as it is an older building, it can be pretty drafty in the winter, and soundproofing is nearly non-existent. Footsteps and other noise above can become a nuisance if you require a quiet living environment (the main reason why I moved out). It's also a bit "lived-in" which wasn't a big deal to me, but if you're looking for pristine walls/ceilings/carpeting/tile/etc, I'd look elsewhere. E Hennepin Ave can be pretty noisy as well, but I got used to it after only a week or two. Also, it's very close to a lot of student housing, so around the time school starts in the fall and nice weather weekends can bring some rowdy late night revelers in the neighborhood. Senior move-out in August/September turns the neighborhood into a dumping ground of cast-off furniture and such, but it's great for dumpster diving! All in all, I would absolutely live there again - but only if I had a unit on the top floor.Read MoreReview from Apartments.com
It's Not To Bad!
October 6, 2015The rent is definitely workable but the location sometimes leaves me wanting. I'm not in the suburbs but at times it feels as thou that I am. I live in an industrial area that means I need to travel via car to go shopping for basic needs. I am not to far from bus lines thou. The landlord is very nice and he hasn't raised the rent in a while so I'm pleased with this. It's Not To Bad.Review from Apartments.com
