Renters Reviews and Ratings
Are Renters Afraid To Review This Place?
April 8, 2022This bldg. is 100 years old in 2022. It had good bones but no owner in 15-20 yrs has made much investment in its repair, maintenance, or infrastructure beyond the minimum required by law, if that. Due to the age of the building & creative use designations, this building has no elevator. Current management company is unresponsive to calls from tenants, sub-leasers, workers, or other inquiries. This can be problematic since the Super is required to get management approval for any major repairs, ...for permission to call a professional, or to replace appliances, among other things. Residents say flooding (a frequent concern on various bldg. levels) is not considered an emergency by management & response can take hours in spite of a resident Super. In many instances management refuses to allow a professional plumber to deal with these issues & even then it can be days before arrival. Among matters that may concern buyers is that in recent years the advice of professional plumbers has been ignored in favor of putting Band-Aids over ongoing problems. Although video cameras were eventually installed, camera footage has not been made available after incidents major or minor unless the police specifically demanded it in writing. After a series of questionable tenants damaged lobby doors & harassed other tenants, management made no effort to remove them. Once that series of tenants had passed, lobby door locks were still not corrected to working order. Instead they still use the "$50"? magnetic key but it's a normal lock, so some residents refuse to buy new keys & keep blocking the lobby door open. There is no security or doorman. The electronic door opening/bell system is often out of order. After years of repeated flooding w/no noticeable clean-up on the part of Staff or management there should be some concern about potential mold & other water-related issues for any buyer/renter. Verizon tried to fit this bldg with fiber optic cable 5 years ago, but was unable to due to the ancient & untended condition of its wiring. Verizon instead simply ran wires through the hallways & between apartments then installed individual boxes. Another potential concern is that some larger apartments were unprofessionally subdivided. Another concern is that GPS lists 3029 as being in the middle of the block when it's really at the end of the block. Recently the address was added to the exterior.Read MoreReview from Apartments.com
