West L.A./Palms
September 29, 2015This apartment building is tucked pretty neatly into the Palms area of West Los Angeles. The neighborhood is primarily older buildings occupied by young people and young families. There has been some development in the area, so there are a few cool bars, new coffee shops, and other projects in the works. If you live in a building like mine, this is great because you get the benefit of a bigger unit (associated with slightly older buildings) but the conveniences of an up-and-coming ...neighborhood. The apartment itself is truly between 3 and 4 stars. It's good sized: big kitchen by apartment standards, more than a hole in the wall for the bathroom, and a really good-sized bedroom. The downsides are that it could use some work because it's a bit dated aesthetically. The rent I pay is very competitive; I know if I left this unit, I would not be able to pay such a good price for rent in the Westside again. Overall, it's not a forever place, but it's a good place to start if you want to live in this neighborhood. My neighbors are pleasant, it's mostly pet friendly (they'll tell you OK begrudgingly), and there's not really too much to complain about when it's close to so many things and so many other neighborhoods.Read MoreReview from Apartments.com
