Good for the price
October 11, 2015This is an affordable apartment in a nice neighborhood with good access to public transportation, being halfway between the Clark and Broadway buses, and not far from the Argyle red-line stop. It's also conveniently located near the Andersonville shopping district. Downsides: Management can be slow to respond. There's also no recycling pick-up. Only two washers and two dryers for dozens of units.Review from Apartments.com
Great neighborhood, reasonable rent
October 11, 2015I love this neighborhood. Quiet, tree-lined streets, friendly neighbors and friendly neighborhood dogs, walking distance to two lively business districts with a bunch of independent local businesses. Coffee shops, restaurants, bars, clothing, antiques, even a pet store. Within 5-7 minute walk of the El and 4 bus lines. Multiple grocery stores nearby. There's even a neighborhood block party every summer. The apartment itself is bigger than what you get for the same rent half a mile away. Lots of ...natural light, decent cross-breezes, and the bedroom has two windows so in summer I don't have to choose between installing the window A/C unit or having access to fresh air. Kitchen is a little small, but again, better than what you can get in other nearby buildings. So those are the wonderful things. However there are a few crucial negatives. There's only one laundry room with two washers and two dryers for the ENTIRE building (about 36 units). The refrigerator has been loud and the compressor sounds like it's on its last legs since I moved in, but the landlord ignored my requests to get it fixed or replaced. Management is decently responsive for small repairs like clogged drains, but bigger things are routinely ignored. I've also never had an apartment (even that one just half a mile away) with so many pest problems. There were mice when I moved in -- which, thankfully, the manager DID respond to and I haven't had mice since. I've had ants twice, and this year I've had roaches, and my requests for help are either ignored completely or I get blamed for "bringing them in" although I have no idea how I could do so, given that they were climbing up our water pipes and I'm on the top floor. I had to buy roach traps at my own expense and take care of it myself -- although this won't address where the roaches are coming from in the first place. So while there are many wonderful things about this place, the negatives are enough that I can't rate this higher than average.Read MoreReview from Apartments.com
