Robbers, Roaches, and Mice oh my!
March 25, 2022Pros: - Decent prices. - Somewhat spacious apartments. Cons: - The BIGGEST con about living here is this building is EXTREMELY old. The reason this affects living here so much is because of the amount of creatures that are able to get in. Since the first day, I've dealt with mice EVERYWHERE. etc. In fact, in the first month of me moving here, a mouse crawled into my shoe and I unknowingly put my foot inside without knowing that a creature had made my shoe it's home. The roaches are also a ...HUGE problem here, and from my years of living in this city 546 Bergen Ave 100% has the biggest roaches. I know there's a lot of naive people thinking "Oh I can just clean up a lot and I won't have to worry about that", and they couldn't be more wrong. One big thing you'll have to grow to learn about living in a city like this is you WILL HAVE to deal with mice or roaches eventually, the only thing that changes from apartment to apartment is how bad it is. In my current downtown apartment I haven't seen a single mouse yet, and since the building is somewhat newer the only roaches I see are small ones that manage to crawl through the mini gaps. 546 Bergen Ave apartments are literally hot spots for mice and roaches. - Thieves! The first thing you will notice when you walk in is a big sign that says to not let random people in because the packages are being stolen. That sign doesn't fix anything, and the owners of the building have done NOTHING to fix this issue. There is no mail room, the cameras aren't actually used so packages get stolen every single day. Sometimes the packages get stolen if you leave them for an hour, sometimes they literally get stolen if you leave them for even a few minutes. None of the delivery drivers care obviously, there's no real work around this other than if the building owners step up and figure something out. Will this ever happen? Most certainly not. - The maintenance man is the WORST. Nothing ever got fixed, I literally didn't have power in a room for 3 months while I waited for the maintenance man. He also waited 6 whole months to fix my mail box so I essentially had an open mailbox throughout my entire stay. He lied a lot, he had horrible anger issues, and he just wasn't enough to handle the needs of the building.Read MoreReview from Apartments.com
