Decent Apartments, Disengaged Management
October 17, 2018PROS 1. Location; 3 minute walk to the metro, CVS, grocery stores, and a handful of decent restaurants and bars. The area is relatively safe and quiet and has a very neighborhood/local vibe to it. 2. Unit Size; For what you are paying, you get a really nice sized unit with a good layout. My unit has 3 closets (including a walk-in) and plenty of cabinet space in the kitchen, so storage is ample. 3. Quiet, Respectful Tenants; The building is VERY quiet and it's rare to hear much noise from the ...hall or other units. Other tenants are friendly, respectful, and generally keep to themselves. CONS 1. Very Old; The building shows it's age A LOT. Carpets and paint look old and worn, years of dirt and grim seem to be everywhere especially the bathrooms no matter how hard you clean, and the ancient elevator is out of order every few months. No modern amenities like garbage disposals, dishwashers, or even microwaves included in-unit. Laundry facilities are old, coin-operated, and also out of service every few months. Not at all the "modern living" the website boasts. 2. Management; Not proactive and very poor communication with tenants. Notices that affect tenants (water being shut off for work, an outbreak of package thefts, unit inspections, etc.) are printed and posted in the lobby, elevator, and laundry room. There is generally no follow up after the initial posting. This is 2018 and we have an online resident portal. Communication should be ELECTRONIC to ensure tenants are reading important information in a timely manner. Mgmt is not proactive. 3. Garbage & Recycling; The building smells like garbage A LOT. This is such a particular complaint, but my biggest pet peeve. The trash room is in the basement directly next to the elevator shaft, so it constantly smells like trash in the elevator and on the first floor. It's gross and embarrassing when you have guests over. Each floor has it's own trash "closet" with one trash can that can fit maybe 2 full regular sized bags in it. Often full, especially on weekends when it doesn't seem to be emptied. Have recycling? Nope -- can't go in the trash closet. You have to carry that to the basement yourself and bare the stench of the trash room while you try to figure out the correct can to place your stuff in. In a building with so few (if any) amenities, why can't we at least have proper trash and recycling management?Read MoreReview from Apartments.com
Under new...management?
July 28, 2015Our landlord died and the property is quickly deteriorating... While it's in a great location (Cleveland Park, 600 feet from the metro), we are struggling with multiple infestations, an abandoned building next door, and others.Review from Apartments.com
