Public Housing is the Upgrade
February 5, 2022The Bad So far I’ve been here for a month. The real estate agent look my deposit, first months rent, and lease. I have yet to receive copies and I have reached out. I even left a voicemail at their corporate office. I was also told the heating here was included turns out it’s not. The rent here increased by $200 in the last few years so I’m paying a pretty hefty price to live here. I tried using the laundry facilities only to find mold in all 6 washers. There are 97 units and only 6 washers ...and 6 dryers. There are children who live here. They have only 1 maintenance and can’t afford to at least hire someone to take care of the small laundry facility or provide cleaning supplies so we can disinfect as we use the equipment. My bathroom was dirty when I moved in. There is a part in the lease that states if you do not clean they will charge a fee. In this case the fee did not go to hiring someone to clean. I have tiles that have been painted over with contractors paint rather then tile paint and it’s not of the same color. I read that maybe there are roaches but haven’t seen any. The common areas in my part of the complex are dirty. So they have no one sweeping or mopping these areas which is violation of the right to decent housing. People love to chat and handout in the hallways forgetting that the walls are paper thin. I can hear what goes on in my neighbors apt. Everyone has to walk a half a mile to throw trash out because instead of leaving each dumpster near each section of the complex they pile them up behind the laundry facility. Their solar lights in the parking lots do not work, so good luck. The Good They did a great job refinishing the hardwood floors in the apt I moved into. There is so much closet space. My room has a walk in closet. My apartment came with a front and back door, yes, the balcony is not a balcony but more of an emergency exit but it has a rustic look to it (it is an old building). They let you know that there is the possibility of mold or lead in the apartments (not the laundry facilities or laundry equipment). The place states build in 89 however lead paint stopped in the late 70’s. Pets- Yes they allow cats with pet fee. They allow dogs too if you have a service dog with papers from your doctor. No I have not seen poop everywhere, however they can provide signs that state to clean up after your pet. Maintenance won’t shovel sections D and E properly when it snows.Read MoreReview from Apartments.com
Absolute nightmare.
August 25, 2021First off, the “balcony” is a fire escape. Unless you live on the top floor, you’re not getting an actual balcony. It takes over a month for maintenance in the apartment to be done. The super will insist on bringing his creepy buddy into your apartment even to do jobs that just require one person. There is constantly children shrieking as early as 8am and leaving their toys and bikes around. There are constantly roaches no matter how much you keep your apartment clean. There are dishwashers in ...random apartments but they will still charge you the same rent even if you don’t have one. The lease states no dogs are allowed but there are plenty of people here with dogs of all sizes (not service dogs) and there is constantly dog poop all over the place. The walls and floors are thin so you hear everything from everyone, especially if you’re on the middle floor. The office staff do not pick up the phone, respond to voicemails or even answer emails. During the winter the parking lot doesn’t get plowed or shoveled until it’s too late and everyone is skidding into each other and falling on the sidewalk. Huge issue for the elderly/disabled/pregnant that live here. The laundry facility raises the prices every other month and half the washers leak and half the dryers don’t even dry your clothes no matter how many times you run your clothes through. And there are only six of each. Living here is an absolute nightmare.Read MoreReview from Apartments.com
