Tenants blamed for roaches, old plumbing, and mice
August 23, 2021I lived here between 2018 & 2019. Before signing our lease, we asked how pests would be handled. The building managers (a father/son duo) assured us that they didn't have a problem & they would take care of any pest issues. As soon as we were handed the keys, we realized that there was a huge problem. There were roaches in the common hallway- living and dead- and in every room of our apartment. We raised it for the managers several times, and they booked an exterminator to come 2x in the year ...that we lived there. We met with the exterminator to ask what we could do to make it better, and he said that we were very clean people and this was clearly a long-standing issue. He pointed out holes all around the apartment where the walls had eroded, and said "This is a perfect place for roaches to come in and out." As the weather got colder, we realized that we also had mice. One time I was cooking and I drained some oil into a cup to dispose of it properly. I turned around for one moment, and when I came back to the cup, I found that TWO mice had jumped into the oil for warmth. My back was turned for maybe 15 seconds. We plead with the building managers to take our issue more seriously. My roommate & I refrigerated ALL non-perishable foods- even sugar. They told us that we were to blame for the roaches & the mice because of our fruit bowl on the counter. If we had more room in the fridge, believe me, we would have put it in there too. One day our toilet seriously clogged. I called the son from the building manager team, and he told me he didn't really want to come fix it because he had plans. The son said, "I will come over and fix the clogged toilet, but I will charge you $100 if I find out that it's clogged because you put a tampon into the toilet." I was so embarrassed and stunned that he would say something like that. My roommate and I do not dispose of our tampons in the toilet. He came over, fixed the leak, and confirmed that the clog was caused by the delicate, old plumbing. There was no tampon. But he said, "I will charge you $100 anyway." When we left this building (the moment our lease was up) they didn't turn off the automatic charges and continued to take rent out of my bank account. It was an administrative accident. I flagged it for the son, & he was rude again. It was degrading to live in such nasty conditions and to be blamed for it.Read MoreReview from Apartments.com

The GreatSchools Rating helps parents compare schools within a state based on a variety of school quality indicators and provides a helpful picture of how effectively each school serves all of its students. Ratings are on scale of 1 (below average) and to 10 (above average) and can include test scores, college readiness, academic progress, advanced courses, equity, discipline and attendance data. We also advise parents to visit schools, consider other information on school performance and programs, and consider needs as part of the school selection process.
