More than curb appeal
August 11, 2015The wide still street that brings you here is lined with tall oak trees on either side that meet in the sky to form a whimsical arc. You will arrive to a charming cottage with a green lawn, a white picket fence. From the street view you'd never know that this is actually a multi unit apartment building. Driving into the single lane parking lot you will have access to see the two story motel like building. Alameda is affectionately known in the Bay Area as "where the hippsters go to breed". I'm ...not a hippster and I am not here to breed. I'm a single mother that wants a place for her child to feel safe. I'm so thankful that my apartment provides this for my daughter and I. Everything else is extra, the large closets are extra. The mirrors on the closets, extra. The dishwasher is extra, and the new sand colored cabinets, all extras. I'm also thankful for how spaceous my apartment is. The living room is large enough for two big sofas or three smaller pieces. The two bedrooms affords both my daughter and I the luxury of privacy that all people should have. I'm so grateful for the space to live comfortably. The rule is, your monthly rent should be about 33% or 1/3 of your salary. If I followed this rule the place I'd have to be in would not be like the place I speak of above . If I followed that rule my daughter would not feel safe at all. The truth is that every month a small miracle has to happen for me. My daughter has no idea, as I prefer. Every month I have to budget and carefully cover all expenses including rent and bills. I'm so thankful that, because of my faith and possitive additude I have succeeded thus far. As a child I would visit Alameda for birthday parties. I offen thought, I love this serene city, I would love to one day live here. And here we are! I love my apartment and city, but for more important reasons than just curb appeal.Read MoreReview from Apartments.com
