My Home - East 88th Street
July 28, 2015The owners are selling the building and I will be losing my apartment. My husband died in 1999 and I feel my husband in this apartment. Leaving this apartment is making me feel like I am leaving my husband. It is a great railroad apartment in the upper east side of Manhattan. I took over the job of Superintendent when my husband died as the owners were kind enough to keep me as Super. But now that is ending, I feel so sad as this neighborhood is so real, people are so friendly and caring. I ...couldn't have made it thru my husband's death with the kind tenants and neighbors on East 88th Street. I was devastated when my husband died, but a miracle happened and the owners let me stay on. I know I should be grateful for the years I have been here and I certainly do thank God every day for everything, but it doesn't stop the sadness of leaving a place I called HOME. Maybe change is good, but it sure doesn't feel good. I will miss this block, I will miss my neighbors, I will miss all the stores, friendly people always willing to lend a helping hand - that's New York! My wish is to be able to stay on this block or even in these buildings. That is my wish!Read MoreReview from Apartments.com
