Poor Upkeep/Unpleasant Landlord
September 14, 2021Throughout the 8 months I lived at this property, there were multiple instances of water leaking from the ceiling, molded ceilings, and poorly repaired drywall cracking. In addition, the landlord leased the basement out to very loud and disrespectful people running saws and other power equipment. The landlord also kept 100% of the security deposit without giving adequate explanation, even though the apartment was thoroughly cleaned before it was vacated. Overall awful experience with the property ...and the management.Read MoreReview from Apartments.com
Deteriorating Property
September 14, 2021I lived in this apartment from 2018-2021. During my time here, I had several unpleasant experiences. The first I encountered was that of a section of the living room ceiling falling and leaving the inner structure of the building exposed for about a week. After that, I had the same issue with the ceiling in the bathroom. One morning, I entered the bathroom to see it had been flooded with about 1 inch of standing water. I looked around only to find out the ceiling had become rotted by water from ...the toilet of the tenant above and a part of the ceiling had detached and spilled all over the floor into the water. Eventually, this problem was fixed only to find out that soon after, the leak had then spread into the living room section of the ceiling where it had begun to droop the ceiling material. Finally, about 5 months prior to my leaving the apartment, a crew of workers could be heard in the basement constantly running saws and other construction tools at the early hours of the morning (start around 7:15) late into the evening (the floor vents gave way to direct noise from underneath the apartment). With all this taken into consideration, upon request of an update on my security deposit, my landlord's contact informed me I would not be receiving any of it back. This came as a surprise, as I noticed they had charged me for cleaning and painting fees, neither of which would have been induced by my actions while living there, but rather to offset the cost of the basic maintenance of the unit. In addition to these cleaning and painting fees, which amounted in excess of $500, I was also charged $30 for 3 double AA batteries. Just keep in mind when renting any of these units, you may endure these costs.Read MoreReview from Apartments.com
