Great Neighborhood, Lots of Space
August 13, 2015We've lived at 3090 Vicente for 4 years, and we love it. We initially chose it for the space - to - price ratio, which is only going up in San Francisco. We've stayed for the great neighborhood and great neighbors. The cost is still fairly reasonable for the city, too. The apartments are big (walk-in closets and bedrooms plenty big enough for a King bed and dresser and night stands), well laid out (living areas separated from the bedrooms by hallways, so it feels spacious; dining area in the ...kitchen, so it doesn't take up living space), and the building is well kept (manager lives on site and you can always find her around). The building is only two blocks from the MUNI L line, which also runs OWL service, and five blocks from Ocean Beach. Convenient for commuting downtown (can get to center of downtown in 35 mins by train), shopping up on Taraval, dining in West Portal, and lots of outdoor activities. Apartments on the top floor also have views of the ocean. Right across the street is a playground and a soccer/baseball field. The neighborhood is safe, quiet, and clean. There is always plenty of parking. The building is a mix of young families, a couple college students, and older residents who have lived here a long time. Makes for a quiet, respectful group! Everyone is friendly and looks out for each other -- for example, you don't have to worry about package deliveries, because someone will always bring it inside the lobby for you to keep it safe until you get home or even right to your door. Only drawback is the building is older and they often use cheap fixes to save money. Windows on the street sides of the building are still single-pane, so they do let in the cold in winter. They won't replace them until they decide to replace the whole building, we were told, for aesthetic reasons. Some apartments have hard wood floors, others still have carpet (we have carpet that wasn't fit entirely properly, so there are a couple bumps in the living room). We've had our kitchen sink leak twice, but they have been quick to fix it...if they had done a full fix the first time though instead of a rough patch job, we wouldn't have had a second leak. When they did a check of the smoke detectors, one of ours was out of batteries and instead of replacing the battery they just put it back on the wall. So it's small things like that, but I've heard much worse landlord stories!Read MoreReview from Apartments.com
