September 8, 2015I moved into my apartment a little over 2 years ago. When I did, the very first night, a few 20-30 something year olds were in the back on the picnic table drinking wine. I knew I could feel safe. Shortly after that, I asked our new maintenance guy if there was storage downstairs. He made me a copy of his key and gave me a giant storage space with a light. After having BBQs, game nights, and chill time, I realized everyone was friends here. If there is a grill going, neighbors will join ...long enough to bring something from their freezer and cook it up, we all share with one another, and I have literally been asked for a cup of sugar. I began collecting furniture from alleys to make art with and my maintenance friend Jim made me a workshop space. My other neighbors always are friendly and my newest neighbors now, are cat owners, as am I, so we watch each others cats when one of us is out of town. All of these things have made life so much easier. Its the best apartment I have ever had.
