problem. The fire escape is attached to the kitchen and is large enough to plant a few vegetables. The building has no elevator so moving in and out is a bit difficult and some furniture will not fit because the doorways are too small. We learned this the hard way and had to get rid of a couch we had planned on having here. The stairwell is noisy and you will hear people coming and going but you never hear the neighbors talking or their tv's etc. You will also hear the EMS/Police/FD sirens echo in the back courtyard, but thats par for the course in a city. Rent is affordable. There is no central air, so make sure to have at least 1 AC. The heat in the winter is done by water heaters, so the apt does get cool in the winter, but a sweatshirt and pair of sweats is more than enough to compensate. Located in the middle of hoboken, you will be about a 15 min walk from the path/train into NYC. There are plenty of bus stops around to get your into the city at the port authority. That ride is about 20 min or so.
