Avoid at all cost
November 6, 2022This is a drug haven. The building is full of drug dealers and abusers. Landlord knows of it and the police department is 2 blocks away and does nothing. Women constantly getting harassed. Drug meetings in the parking lot all day. Bed bugs, rodents, dirty hallways and a unresponsive landlord. This place needs to be shutdown.Review from Apartments.com
Management Loves Cutting Corners and Holes in the Wall
October 11, 2017Tenants made me fear for my safety. A group of neighbors often sat in the parking lot and would catcall me and harass me. Neighbors followed me to my car to ask invasive questions. Hallway fights woke me at night, with tenants yelling and cussing and even peeing in the hallway. Even without fighting, the thin walls and echoey hallway meant I could clearly hear every entry into the building, every car outside, and every sidewalk conversation. Security is awful. The building's lobby/mailroom is ...unlocked, and packages have been stolen from it. Just one buzzer door prevents public entry, but those who wanted in would ring every buzzer until someone let them in. Strangers buzzing would interrupt my sleep, and most tenants buzzed people in without identifying them. The unit doors don't have peepholes and lock only with a deadbolt. Occasionally unexpected visitors would pound on my door—sometimes maintenance for a surprise visit, or sometimes someone who would ignore me asking who was there (yet keep knocking). The building was poorly maintained—my walls and ceilings were covered in huge cracks, water would periodically flood my under-sink cabinet and kitchen, there was a draft in the winter, the windows wouldn't stay open without propping, and the fixtures didn't seem to be replaced often. Minor problems reported to the management were fixed promptly, but major problems like the flooding were consistently delayed. I came home one day to find a hole under my kitchen sink that opened into the building's main hallway (to access water pipes?). I received no warning or information about why or how long this would be there. I requested a board be put over the hole during repairs to maintain my privacy and safety, but management dismissed my concern and refused to make accommodations. I moved out a few weeks later. When I arrived for check-out, there was no building manager, but there was an unfamiliar man in front of the building. I called the manager, and he wanted me to wait there for an hour until he arrived. When I said that wasn't an option, he said to leave the keys and forwarding address inside . . . and asked me to give the unfamiliar man a tour of my unit. I refused and went inside, and in the five minutes I was there, a different woman brought the man in on a tour. All three of us were surprised and confused—management had warned none of us to expect company. I got out of there as quickly as possible and have never been so relieved in my life to move.Read MoreReview from Apartments.com
