Security deposit was just kept
August 14, 2023The landlady decided to enrich herself with my security deposit, and citing many outrageous charges beyond my control. My favorite one charge was "corroded vanity knobs" as if my hands were made of acid. I upgraded the lights and she charged me to have the original ones back in place. Blind cleaning fee was more than the blinds would be worth if you bought new ones. The toilet paper holder I upgraded and I was charged a random amount of money to have the old one reinstalled. She kept the ...entire deposit. I probably agreed with only 25% of charges. The vanity knobs charge might have even been illegal as it's regular wear and tear, and was just as corroded when I moved in, but it would have been too much of a hassle to fight.Read MoreReview from Apartments.com
