  • Worst apartment complex. New management is awful

    April 6, 2023
I am a current tenant. Since the new property management company took over this property, they have been nothing but threatening and retaliatory. They are not accommodating in any way, do not communicate appropriately, and when asked, do not provide contact information for their management company to resolve issues. Unfortunately, I no longer recommend beacon on 5th in any capacity as a good complex to rent from. Please look to find housing somewhere else. And like others have said. Staff is ...
unhelpful, website is always down, packages are stolen.

  • Worst place I've lived

    March 15, 2023
Maintenance staff has always been great and quick to respond. Leasing office staff is horrible and incredibly unhelpful, good luck ever getting a straight answer. Dumpster and dog waste cans often overflowing. Packages get stolen on a near daily basis and management won't even install security cameras. There were people in haz mat suits cleaning an apt for over a week which feels creepy. Added bonus is reports of apartment break ins.

  • Great location but hard pass

    January 4, 2023
Location is great everything else is trash, including the trash. Dumpster is always overflowing Friday-Tuesday but they will issue you a fine if you don't throw items in a (full) dumpster. Website and resident portal often down, leasing staff super unhelpful. Quick with service requests. Walls are super thin so you're in luck if you want to listen to your neighbors convos (and more) too many off leash dogs that are poorly behaved. and for added bonus, packages are constantly stolen.

  • Caring and helpful staff!

    September 28, 2021
I moved here from California 2 months ago. I had reserved an apartment in another complex, online, but when I got here, that apartment was so smoky, even after several different treatments, that I couldn’t live in it, and my furniture was on the way. Beacon on 5th had a 1 bedroom available and I was able to move in almost immediately. Then when a 2 bedroom opened a month later, they helped me transfer to the larger apartment. Visually it’s beautiful here, but the attitude, consideration, and ...
quick thinking of the staff really made this chaotic experience much easier for me to handle. Oh, love the patios on the 2 bedrooms, and the modernness of the layout. Thanks again Jenna and Skye!

  • Great location management is trash

    September 16, 2021
They never fix anything. Restrooms in the gym are never stocked with paper towels and or cleaned. Pool was left to turn murky and it look disgusting. Pet disposal cans are full months at a time. Gas grill was out of service in the middle of the summer. Complete mess.

  • My experience

    July 19, 2020
Talk to residents before you decide on a place, Beacon on 5th is located close to downtown, the interstate, and the local Wegman’s. The place was very clean, including the pool, and they didn’t treat me like another renter. Management made repairs quickly and once in a while hosted socials with free food. Can’t beat that.

  • Look elsewhere!!!

    May 15, 2020
PROS: -The maintenance team always responded quickly to any issues that we had. -Kitchens are nice (granite countertops, lots of counter space, etc). -Gym is pretty good (yet crowded and without actual weight machines) CONS: -walls are SUPER thin. I heard the neighbors I share a wall with talking, using the bathroom ,and even yawning!! With my above neighbors I heard a constant stampede (even if they were average sized). For the price , there should be more wall insulation. -They charge extra ...
per month to use a single trash compactor, whereas other places have this plus other trash amenities included -Not enough parking -In the summer you get a constant onslaught of centipedes (so if you like vacuuming multiple times a day then maybe this place is for you). -All-air HVAC systems are bunched together (8+) and placed a foot away from the windows of some bedrooms . If you are unlucky enough to have an apartment in front of them, good luck sleeping with them buzzing on and off all year. In the winter, when ice gets stuck in them, it sounds like a construction drill. Again, better insulation would help mute the sound, as well as a smarter apartment design (do not group so many right next to bedrooms!). So in summary, yes this place looks new and shiny on the outside, but I would overall recommend that you look elsewhere.

  • Ask them about their extreme restrictions

    May 4, 2020
An extremely restrictive place to live. you pay for luxury living, as they call it, but that is business hours only. If you come home tired and park your car nose out, it will be towed. they post pictures of you and your family, but you are restricted from posting or taking pictures of their facilities.

  • Love living here, wish I could stay

    August 12, 2019
I moved here in July 2018 to a 2br/2ba. I love the apartment. It is the nicest apartment I've ever had. I will give it 5 stars, even though there are problems, but I believe everywhere has problems. However, I will give you the full honest breakdown in case you are deciding on living here. Good things are: Beautiful well constructed apartments. Solid doors. Modern construction so everything is up to modern building codes which I appreciate. Wide doorways, tall ceilings make the place feel so ...
much more open. Floors are solid. Staff here is great every time I've needed them. Maintenance comes quickly and does their thing. They are also good at proactive scheduled maintenance. Another thing I appreciated about the staff here was the effort to create a community. This residence area is mostly for people who are here short-term. You see a lot of out-of-state plates in the lots. We're all just moving-in/moving out. It's just the nature of it. The staff here really tries to make everyone feel welcome and a part of the community. There are a lot of dogs here. A LOT of dogs. Most residents are cool and will make sure to pick up after their dog but I was not too infrequently picking up someone else's mess. Bad things are: Parking was terrible, I agree with the review that said that the spots are too narrow and you end up with scratches/dings on your car. Also, I don't understand what the point is of getting a parking permit if they aren't going to tow. Too many times I'd be parking far away from my residence and walk past 5-6 cars without a parking permit. I never saw a tow-truck in the lot. This isn't really the complex's fault but power here is terrible. I use battery backup supplies on ALL of my electronics. I am not exaggerating that as of this review in the last 24 weeks my UPS had to switch to battery 35 times. Most outages only last a second or two, but some have lasted 4+ hours. I've given up trying to keep the appliance clocks set. I had to break my lease early because of work reasons moving us out of the area and that hurt. I was hoping to get out a bit cheaper than we did. But that's the agreement, just be aware of what you sign up for and that life can throw you a curveball. Overall I can highly recommend living at Beacon on 5th, it was a wonderful stay and I wish I could have finished out my lease.

  • Avoid at All Costs! Terrible Office Staff and Parking

    August 14, 2018
This place looks great from the outside but once you are moved in, it quickly goes downhill very fast. I will start with the Pros: 1. Very close to the hospital and Wegmans which is nice. 2. Maintenance staff is great! 3. Both townhome and flats floorplan options. Now the Cons: 1. Parking is a nightmare and the spaces are super small and your car will get beat up rather quickly. 2. Rent policies at this site are very strict such as no grace period on the rent and rent is considered late on ...
the 2nd of the month? 3. The walls are super thin and you can hear EVERYTHING including when your neighbor coughs in their apartment. 4. There are a lot of students that live here... 5. The area is not the best part of town and looks very rough and dodgy around the community. 6. Finally and most importantly, they will find any way possible to screw you out of your security deposit and send you a huge bill on move-out. The unit was brand new when we moved in and we were only there six months and they charged us for cleaning (which is the normal cost of doing business) after we cleaned this place inside and out and have photos to show. They also are charging us for carpet that was in great shape when we moved out and we even had rugs down! They said the carpet was not salvageable but it looked great after the rugs come up and they are saying that they have to replace the carpet. I'm sorry but my security deposit is not your blank checkbook. Once you try and e-mail or call them after they send you the bill, good luck because Tammy will not respond. Heed my warning and learn from our mistake of choosing to live at Beacon on 5th!

  • Nice Apartment, Great Maintenance Staff, Terrible Office Staff

    August 8, 2018
I was the first tenant in my unit. It was nice, but there were quite a few areas where you could tell the construction crew cut corners or rushed through. It was visually appealing until you looked closely at the details, when you noticed several scratches/paint sprays/pulls in the carpet/mismatched paint/and so on. Overall, nothing that was too worrisome. The maintenance staff was FABULOUS. Brian and Jermaine were nothing short of exceptional. They knew the tenants, were fantastic when ...
entering my unit and dealing with my two big dogs, and responded nearly instantly for any issues that arose. They were professional, helpful, and just nice! The real issue I had with this property was their office staff. Each and every communication included at least one typo, and was frequently confusing or just plain wrong. They are not transparent about all of the fees that will be included in your rent. They will nickel and dime you for every single penny they can get. Be exceptionally detailed in your move-in walk through evaluation, take photos, etc. My best advice is to get every single communication you have with anyone in that office in writing.

  • Loved living here

    July 2, 2018
My husband is military and we have lived in 8 apartment rentals in the past 10 years. Beacon was by far our favorite. The staff, Tammy, Brian, Jermaine, and the newer additions are so nice and accommodating. They hold events for residents just about quarterly and try to make it feel like a real community. We had a two year old, and we had a wonderful time there. I saw another review about riding bikes, but if they were trying to let kids ride on the paved area it would have been tremendously ...
dangerous as all areas are for parking and people come in and out quickly. I would move back here in a heartbeat. You can exit the rear via a paved walking path and ride bikes on the sidewalks of the adjacent neighborhood...plus there is a wonderful playground/spash pad park a few hundred feet out the rear of the development! Love love love this place and am sad to have left.
