Stay far, far away from Cambridge Towers Apartments
May 7, 2023I have been here since 2020. Allow me to share my experiences. The mail room had issues with security in the past and packages were often stolen from the area. They have a camera now, at least, and some more locks, so that is an improvement. There are rooms, including mine, which do not have the ability to ring someone up, and yet others do have that ability. The building is old, with old pipes which have leaked multiple times into my room. Recently the seemingly yearly leak hit again, this ...time in the bathroom. Started on a Friday and wasn't responded to until Monday. Only by the next Friday were efforts managed to stem the tide, and the bathroom still not only reeks of mildew due to all the water, but won't be properly repaired and hopefully cleaned up until this upcoming Friday. We'll see. It is a very loud area: often times you will hear music blaring outside, even with the windows shut, and most weeks during summer there is some form of street racing out in the intersection, although generally this lessens once winter hits. Water gets shut off for hours almost once a month, at least. The new owners out of California are pretty bad. They attempted to force me to pay money I didn't owe them which required going through court. Wasted everybody's time and put mountains of stress upon me. Office times are confusing. The office door says Mondays - Fridays from 9 AM - 6 PM and Saturdays from 10 AM - 5 PM. Last week I was told they aren't actually open on Mondays. Also 75% of the time if you go down to the office on those days they are seemingly closed. They don't really appear to reply to messages left on the phone either. For some reason they think that they deserve to raise the rent higher. Why? Nothing substantial has changed for the better. The updated laundry facility isn't worth the price hike. They cleaned the garages, updated the infrastructure, and repaved the front parking lot. But the apartments themselves are still not in good shape. Where do they even get off doing that? They have done nothing to deserve the rent hike. Stay far away from Cambridge Towers Apartments. If I could rate this lower than one star I absolutely would. We'll see if they end up trying to fight for the security deposit. They certainly don't deserve to keep it. If you must come here I suggest looking into starting some sort of tenant's union.Property Manager Responded

More negatives than positives
April 25, 2023I've lived in the building for 6+ years. The original management was welcoming and attentive. Since the building was purchased by another management company several years ago, living conditions have only declined. There is constant overturn of office staff. When I was trying to transfer to a one bedroom from the studio I had, it took weeks to get any kind of response, only to then learn that the manager had quit and the new management didn't have any info from her. They have since gone through ...many people working in the office, which is never open anyway. This also allows errors to be blamed on previous office staff. I have filled out and returned a form denoting which parking space and storage unit I had assigned to me at least 5 times. It's an old building so issues are expected, but in the last few years it's clear pipes need replacing as there are often leaks and emergency repairs requiring building water shut off at least twice a month. If an elevator is out of service it often takes several months to get it repaired. And then when they are functioning they often don't go to the floor you've selected. The parking garages and front lot have been renovated, this took nearly a year to accomplish which was an inconvenience if you couldn't claim available parking. Pre-pandemic, packages were delivered to the office. Once we were self isolating, packages were then delivered to a table near the elevator. Delivery people do not always leave packages here, which isn't entirely the building's fault, but even if your packages are left in this only partly secure area, there's still a high chance they will get stolen. This is a rampant issue anywhere you live, but it's clear management of this building isn't concerned with security and how easy it is for anyone to get in and steal packages. I have also observed a few storage units with the doors ripped off the hinges and padlocks still attached, so be sure not to leave anything valuable in storage. Utilities used to be included but now residents must pay all utilities, amounting to at least $100 a month. With parking renovations complete and underground parking included you and your guests will have somewhere to park. It's mostly a quiet building. The concrete walls help. With the increase in price due to utilities and the package theft I would no longer recommend living in Cambridge Towers. The rent appears to be competitive for the area and it's close to highways and shopping.Property Manager Responded
May 4, 2023Hi Anna, Thank you for taking the time to share your experience at Cambridge Towers. We appreciate that you have chosen Cambridge as your home and we look forward to the opportunity to show you a high level of service. The pandemic did cause staffing turnovers and vendor supply shortages causing delays in finishing projects. We are excited that the garage and new parking deck are open for your use. We have recently hired a new manager that is committed to providing high quality service to our residents and prospective customers. Should you have any questions or just want to say Hello please do not hesitate to stop by the leasing office.

An ok apartment at first
November 30, 2020The rent was cheap for the area and utilities were free for a while. Then the new management decided to raise rents and charge utilities via RUBS system all during a global pandemic. There were many times water would be shut off or make us clear the parking garage and didn't give an advanced notice. The elevator would be constantly be broken and laundry machines not working. They respond to maintenance requests pretty quickly.Review from Apartments.com
Great Place to Live!
August 10, 2017I've been living at Cambridge Towers for a few years and I am hoping that a one bedroom unit opens up here so I don't have to leave. The place is older but it is well run and has a great resident manager. The utilities, underground parking and a storage unit are included in the rent which is great. I really like the layout of the apartment, the large balcony, and how quiet the building is all the time. It is going to be hard to find a better value somewhere else.Review from Apartments.com
It's okay
August 6, 2017All utilities are paid for, which is nice. A/C works well in the living room, but it doesn't go all the way to the bedroom so it gets warm in there. The two elevators are nice but they are slow, so you're better off using the stairs, at least to go down. Big walk in closet and the dishwasher is nice. Shelly, the resident manager, is terrible though. If they got rid of her and replaced her with someone who was actually in the office and wasn't lazy and mean, I would definitely stay here longer.Review from Apartments.com
So many perks!
June 2, 2017I've been in my studio at Cambridge Towers for about 7 months now and I've loved it! I face the West and the sunsets from my balcony are breathtaking!! The location is unbeatable where all of the Knollwood area stores and restaurants are on either side of hwy 7, and if you enjoy the uptown lakes or nightlife, it's only a 10 minute drive/uber! Other perks include a free underground parking, dishwasher, large kitchen sink, plenty of cupboard space, good shower pressure, a large walk-in closet, and ...a large balcony! (I can fit two chairs, a small table, a plant, and a lounge fold-out) A garbage shoot would be convenient, and more outlets would be neat but that's easily fixed with power strips. Speaking of, I don't have to pay for electricity (or other utilities) which is a life saver since I have most of my lights on at all times in my studio. The apartment managers are super friendly and on multiple occasions have been willing to drop packages inside of my apartment as my work hours completely overlap with their office hours. Perks are worth the price!!Read MoreReview from Apartments.com
Home on Cambridge St
November 21, 2013I like that the garage, locker, and electricity are all included in the rent. I like also that the manager and the maintenance people are so dependable and handle any problems as soon as possible. I would like to have better carpets with pads as my carpet has many little bulges so it does not lay flat.Review from Apartments.com
My Best MN Apartment BY FAR!
December 3, 2013Cambridge Towers is in a neighborhood with lots of restaurants and malls and conveniently sits next to Highway 7, yet the building is so quiet! The neighbors are friendlier than the neighbors I had in any of my other Twin Cities apartments--just nicer/more respectful people all around. Norma from the management office is professional, warm, and incredibly helpful, and everyone here loves her. I once needed my air conditioning looked at and left a note about that in the morning. When I got home ...from work 9 hours later, the air conditioning was already fixed and had totally cooled my apartment! My apartment is well-constructed and it is very rare that I need to ask for assistance but, in the one or two times that I have in nearly 4 years of renting here, they are SUPER QUICK to look at any issues and fix them (this, too, is very different from the situations I have had in other Twin Cities apartment buildings I lived in--where I had to wait weeks, months, or years.) The rental is a great price and features underground parking and electric included in the rent. The WiFi/fax center and weights/exercise room are brand new. I highly recommend Cambridge Towers, its fantastic management and maintenance staffs, and its exciting neighborhood.Read MoreReview from Apartments.com
Love My Cambridge Towers!
October 29, 2013My previous living situation came to a quick conclusion and I needed a place to live quickly. I searched tirelessly in Uptown, St. Louis Park, Minnetonka and Hopkins for some place safe, price-conscious and that offered a reasonable amount of ammenities which in the Twin Cities you either don't have the choice of getting or pay an arm and a leg for the basic ones! Cambridge Towers, came to the rescue! I worked with Norma and Debbie who were fantastic, you could even call them friends of mine ...now! I've never had an issue they couldn't solve and those were very minor things. The complex isn't in the best of neighborhoods but then again every place has its weaknesses. I will however say that they take care of their tenants and for the price and things offered, its really nice especially when winter comes around. They just opened a new Apt. Gym and wi-fi computer room that are free and nicely done. I've been here a year and plan on staying for awhile! As long as they don't raise rent to a level where they just become another average Twin Cities apartment you want to avoid but for now...I really enjoy the decision I made!Read MoreReview from Apartments.com
A place to feel safe.
October 31, 2013This building has underground parking which is great for Minnesota winters. Manager lives in the building and all maintenance staff is local and helpful. Concert building stops the noise from other apartments.Exercise room is new and lobby updated. It is the best value for a first ring subur. Check us our and then make Cambridge Towers your home.Review from Apartments.com
Response to Questions
August 17, 2013I submitted an email asking a few questions and never got a response. So, my final question is: If they don't care enough to answer perspective residents questions, how will they treat you once you have signed the dotted line?Review from Apartments.com
