Carroll's Castle Apartments

wanted to wake up next to each other every day. We didn't have a big budget and weren't looking for anything fancy. Just a place close to University of Portland and indoor plumbing, but we ended up hitting the jackpot. Now don't get me wrong, it's still nothing fancy, but I would be lying if I said I didn't catch myself being very thankful we found this place. It's a 2 bedroom 1 bath family owned apartment right on Lombard. It is very cheap with what you get at only 850 a month and a very big living area. But that's not what make us appreciate this place. The landlord is an elderly lady who sat both of us down and really got to know us before we moved in. She's very sick and has been dealing with health problems, but she has had this place for longer than either me or my partner has been alive, and she plans on overlooking it as long as she physically can. She's an amazing landlord and cares for every one of her tenants. And it's obvious the feeling is mutual considering every person that lives here works every day to keep the place looking nice and functional. Seriously, all the tenants help out however they can and they treat this place like a true home. We could have lived in a number of other places with people who didn't care about anyone else, let alone the building they occupy, but we were lucky enough to have people around us that welcomed a couple of kids into their home and works to keep it going. We can trust them and because of that we feel extremely secure here. Not to mention this place is at MOST 10 minutes from both work and school. Location wise, it's perfect. Neighbor wise, it's perfect. Cost of living wise, it's perfect. Overall, this place is perfect. And we completely lucked our way into it.
