Casa Vieja is a 2 story 23unit mid- century building in the heart of Sherman Oaks at 4540 Hazeltine Ave. We have 1, 2- and 3-bedroom apartments. Close to Ventura Blvd and Riverside Dr. On one end of our block is Ventura Blvd and a Big Ralphs grocery store with a Starbucks inside. Wells Fargo Bank is next door. Ventura Blvd is loaded with restaurants and shops it’s great to walk to the store or dinner and walk home. On the other end of our block is a Trader Joe’s grocery store and a neat Asian store called Farm Boy that makes fresh squeezed juices. Casa Vieja is also right next door to the Fashion Square Mall so you can walk to the mall and not worry about a parking spot. And just a few blocks away is Sherman Oaks Recreation Center where everyone can walk and play sports or swim. Our building is open and airy with a nice swimming pool right in the middle. What a dump!
November 5, 2020This building is a dump in every sense of the word. There are a lot of older buildings in Sherman Oaks but this one is in such bad shape. Expect leaks in your apartment and all around the building. The parking situation is dreadful, that lot should not have been permitted. The building has a 1/2 way house feel to it with extremely sketchy tenants. You will not feel safe in your own home. Avoid this building if you can and keep looking. Worst experience living here
April 3, 2019First, the 1 bedroom listed here is actually 486 square feet not 600. Second, nope, not even close to well maintained! There are absolutely no benefits at all to living here. Horrible place to live
January 31, 2019You will regret living here! The newest management company is the ABSOLUTE worst. - There have been 4 management companies in 6 years and the current management is completely unresponsive and inefficient. They lack basic communication skills. The new management waited a full month to provide their contact information when they first took over so all maintaince requests were on hold for a full month. - they tore up the tile outside the front door and by the mailboxes and never told tenants it ...was happening. Some of us got trapped in the building because we couldn't use the front door. Beside not having any permits for this project, tenants were never informed to make plans to be out of the building and access would be denied. Managment sent a group text hours after trapping tenants in the building saying they didn't know construction was starting. - The on-site building manager has no previous management experience and is completely in over her head. - The washer and dryers have been broken for about 4 years. The current on-site manager promised to fix this but its been a year and it hasn't been fixed. - for no apparent reason the on-site manager had the front door code changed one day but it wasn't changed properly. If you hit a wrong number it would make a loud screeching sound. It took weeks for the on-site manager to post a note on what to do to end the loud, horrible sound. Several of us were woken up in the middle of the night when the noise was set off and someone didn't know how to make it stop. I could go on and on because every day there is a new problem or issue. New management is fantastic!
December 2, 2018I moved in a couple months ago after the new on-site manager Amy started. She is a wonderful manager who has really fixed it up. She is easy to talk to if I ever have a problem. So far, I have enjoyed living here. The grounds are neat, the pool is clean, and there is a brand new bbq and patio furniture. Major upgrade from my old apartment building!Review from Apartments.com
