BEWARE!!!!
February 15, 2020Paper thin hollow walls, floors, doors and ceilings! No noise soundproofing or insulation at all so be prepared to hear EVERYTHING from your neighbors above, below, side to side and outside your unit. Multiple complaints against a individual for domestic violence. Hope you like hearing fights at 2:00am. Make sure you tap on the walls if you decide to view a unit. The construction on the units here is horrible you will have no peace or quiet. Overpriced bullshit, absolute nightmare!Review from Apartments.com
NOT SAFE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
May 31, 2018The new owners do not care about tenant safety, or longstanding tenants. Two home invasions and multiple car break-ins and all they care about is raising the rent and putting in grass that you get to pay to have watered. In addition, they are moving the office and taking out our indoor Jacuzzi and steam room to do it-ridiculous! No need to move the office that was just renovated. Another brilliant move they are doing is putting in laminate floors; the acoustics are so poor here that you can hear ...your neighbor in the bathroom. But good move guys! Rent increases are substantial and now we pay water, sewage, and trash. No security on one side of complex and homeless people are constantly found within the community. NO security, but you get to pay rent like there is.Read MoreReview from Apartments.com
New Manager
October 11, 2017I read the reviews and was not sure what these people are talking about (the new manager Diana Barnes). I have lived here for 16 years and she is the best manager we have had in years. She does enforce the rules which has not in the pass been enforced. The people that don't like her are the ones I sure have broke the rules. She does have a dog and it is always so well behaved and quite. She had new washer/dryers installed that the old managers couldn't seem to do. We had a very old BBQ grill ...that hadn't worked in years and she had a new one installed. She walks the grounds all the time. She has always been polite to me and I have talked to other people here and they all like her very much. I am very happy we have her as a manager.Read MoreReview from Apartments.com
Do not recommend
February 13, 2017Do not recommend. Previous on-site manager Josh was a little humorless jerk - every third or fourth day we'd all have notes on our doors... "don't do this", "don't do that"... in the laundry room there would be notes all over the place... "don't put this here", "don't do that"... but the tradeoff is that he kept us fully informed of what was happening, even if he had absolutely no sense of humor. He left a couple months ago. The new lady has been a complete failure so far. The communication ...stopped. The monthly newsletter stopped. The monthly rent contest stopped. The washers and dryers in the laundry room started breaking down and haven't been repaired. (We're currently only at half the washers and dryers operating - not enough for a complex of this size. By the way, they're so cheap they shut off the hot water to the laundry room!) She hasn't even introduced herself to the community - we don't even know her name. For those of us who are gainfully employed, the office hours are so bad (only 8am-4pm M-F, never open on the weekend) that there is no opportunity to even see her. As for the maintenance man, he's nice enough, but he only fixes 50% of what you tell him. He somehow finds a reason not to do the rest. Leaving stuff half done is not a good thing. The biggest strike against this complex, though, is the owner. It is owned by Palm Springs' most infamous developer, Mr. Wessman - who's responsible for the destruction of downtown Palm Springs. When I sat down to sign the lease and found his name at the top I almost threw up - but by then it was too late to back out. I loathe that man with every fiber of my being and I will not stay here when my lease is up.Read MoreReview from Apartments.com
Horrible Management/Maintenance!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
November 28, 2016This was once a beautiful place to live where property management cared and maintenance knew what they were doing. Rent continues to rise as the place continues to crumble. This place was once cared about, maintained, and loved by the property managers no matter what day of the week it was. Newest property manager as of 11/16 doesn't care- if it's the weekend, she is off so she will pick and choose what rules will be enforced no matter how much disharmony and tension it may cause. Maintenance ...staff of 1 for this huge complex usually has to redo jobs numerous times before getting it right. He also loves to talk about tenants business to other tenants that will listen. In addition, complex policies change with the newest manager. I moved into an apt complex that did not allow dogs and then because the new manager has a dog they are allowed. Because the walls are so ridiculously thin this is not a complex for barking animals. You will know when your upstairs or downstairs neighbor has a bad bathroom day. Years of calling this place home is now a place of sadness and stress for many tenants.Read MoreReview from Apartments.com
A Gorgeous Resort Feel
May 6, 2016Gorgeous grounds with a resort feel, lovely shrubs & bougainvillea with a mountain view. A question I had was addressed immediately by Josh, who is amazing and always on top of things. Julian (maintenance) is wonderful & a couple very minor things were taken care of within a day after mentioning. Like anything else, a thank you goes a long way. The villas are spread out enough that even though there are 104 units, you would never know it. I was pleasantly surprised at how thick & heavy the ...windows are. The walls must be quite thick because I barely hear anything. It's a quiet community in the evenings and very peaceful. The laundry cost is nominal. The tile countertops are older & although I may wish for granite, they are clean & the rental price reflects that so how can one complain ? The rent is reasonable which is probably why most of the time there is a waiting list to live here. It's gated, a great location, you can walk downtown & it just seems like the perfect place. Sure, there are issues anywhere, but re: review on the cockroaches, you can get your unit sprayed each month if you like at no cost to you & if you keep it up especially in the summer months, you should not have an issue. I looked at 6 other places & no comparison. The layout of the units is great, especially the 2 bedrooms with a separation of bedrooms.Read MoreReview from Apartments.com
last review not true.
August 9, 2015Josh the (COMMUNITY MANAGER) must of wrote that review, it's a lie. I've lived here over 15 years and for the first 13 it was beautiful, now, since they hired Josh to manage because they let go of the manager before him that managed for 22 years let her go. The place has turned a turn for the worst, it isn't SMOKE FREE at all, the grounds are horrible they have torn up everything and have just left dirt, they also let go of the full time gardener who was also here for years, now the gardener ...comes a couple of times a week and if you try to tell him anything he claims "no speak English" how typical, there is no maintenance here on the premises it will take 1 week or longer to get anything fixed and the Community Manager just ignores your request and is never in the office or doesn't go out of it and just walk around, there are several tenants who have foil in all of there windows (getto) and nothing is done, the lighting on the grounds and hallways are burned out and they don't get changed, I could go on and on, I plan on moving when my lease is up and you shouldn't move here either, I'm sure rent is cheaper in Desert Hot Springs cause that's what your getting here.Read MoreReview from Apartments.com
A Footnote
August 31, 2015As a Midwesterner, I headed to Southern Caliornia to explore the beaches. Work and a Woman led me into California's desert region, and I found myself seeking housing in the Resort/retirement community that is Palm Springs. After much searching and deliberation I stumbled upon Tahquitz Mesa Villas, and new immediately I wanted to call it home. After a convenient and easy application process I found out I was right. Set at the foot of mountains, armed with countless towering palm trees, 2 ...pools, 3 jacuzzis, tennis courts, a comfortable club house, and villa-style architecture the apartments offer an atmosphere I couldn't find anywhere else. The pricing is reasonable, the community pleasant, and facility well kept. Just as important to me is that I am within walking distance (or short taxi ride!) to the lively, dare I even say resurgent, downtown Palm Springs. Close enough to food, drink, nightlife, and a glimpse of early Hollywood noir that it is at my easy access, and far enough away to feel secluded and safe at the end of the night. I would recommend to friends and strangers alike to checkout Tahquitz Mesa Villas when seeking desirable housing in the area. I am a genuine fan of where I get to call home.Read MoreReview from Apartments.com
Overall Satisfied
August 31, 2015Lovely location, close to downtown, but nice and quiet as well. Management staff could be more knowledgeable and responsive at times. Within the first week of living here, we had a cockroach issue and the air conditioner began leaking. So far they're being compliant about fixing issues though. Neighbors are nice and pool is lovely.Review from Apartments.com
Tahquitz Mesa Villas apartments
July 29, 2015Joe and I moved here almost 6 months ago. It is so beautiful here. We are at the foot of the most gorgeous mountains in Palm springs. Every time I look out of any window in my apartment, it's like living in paradise. The grounds upkeep is phenomenal with such beauty! The other renters here are all so nice, and the workers are all so polite and thorough with their jobs. But most of all, we have the BEST manager ever!! Josh is his name, and he will do everything to help you move in to your ...new home, and continue being always helpful and always kind!!!! We love it here!!!!Read MoreReview from Apartments.com
