Overpriced and undercared for
December 23, 2023I’m a working mom with a 1 year old. She was 2 months when we moved here to a 4th floor apartment with an elevator. It should come as absolutely no surprise that I would never have rented a 4th floor apartment w a new baby if there were no elevator. About 3.5 months ago the elevator started malfunctioning. We notified the management as did other tenants and it was eventually taken out of service (after weeks of dangerous feeling jolting and stalling). We were not notified of a time line for ...repair and after maybe 2 weeks of lugging a stroller, a baby, groceries and work gear up and down the stairs we asked for updates from the management office. We were told “it’s being worked on” and “there's a part that needs to be ordered we think”. One manager suggested that “at least [we’re] getting good exercise”. After about 6 weeks of no elevator, we wrote to the manager and asked for a partial rent credit since our agreement to rent this apartment was at least in part on the basis of accessibility. What we received was not a response from the manager but a letter from greystars lawyer stating essentially that sometimes problems occur and they are not liable for them and they don’t owe us anything including but not limited to a rent credit. But not to worry, his client “cares deeply about the residents comfort”. It took another 6 weeks (a total of ~2.5 months) for the elevator to finally come back into service. It’s been working for 2 days now. In the meantime we cancelled a visit from a family member who is wheelchair bound since there was no access for him here and continued to pay what was already a steep rent but felt like robbery considering what we were experiencing. The owner has been replying to reviews here w a promise to rectify the situation and a phone number to call. However, the phone number is to the management office secretary. Other tenants have mentioned that they believed the responses and called the number only to feel tricked once again when the secretary reports there’s nothing she can do and she doesn’t know what they’re talking about. I think this behavior is abhorrent and it’s clear that the goal is to subvert tenants’ needs and rights. I’m relieved that the elevator works but I have zero faith that it will remain working nor do I have faith that they will tend to any other issues that arise despite heavily overcharging for rent.Property Manager Responded

December 14, 2023I have resided at Coastline for only a short time, but have only had positive experiences to this point. The building is immaculate, and I have never heard noise from any of my neighbors. Even though the location of my unit is right next to the train crossing and overlooks the 101 freeway, the triple pane windows cut down most all of the noise and it's not a nuisance for me. The view that I have far outweighs any negative from the noise.It feels like I'm on permanent vacation when I'm in my ...unit.Property Manager Responded

Overpriced and zero help from leasing office
September 5, 2023Really great location but everything else is horrible - The apartment itself is poorly built. We are the first people to live here and multiple windows no longer open/close and other things have broken. - If you need help from the leasing office good luck getting a hold of them. If you do get a hold of them, they do not fix the issue. - You will hear every move from your neighbors. It is an apartment so noise is to be expected but this is excessive. - Lots of theft and zero security in place. ...They claim to have cameras but they do not work.Property Manager Responded
