Colonial Village — cute, quaint, a little dated
September 20, 2015Colonial Village is an oasis in urban Arlington/Washington DC. It's was built as a "garden apartment" complex, so you'll enjoy big green spaces in between buildings and even quaint wooded paths between Colonial Village and the sidewalks of Arlington. The exteriors are well maintained year-round and staff are responsive to tenant/owner needs. The only downside is the age of the buildings and the appliances: many units haven't been updated since the 1980s or earlier, so you'll get old-fashioned ...range/setups and tacky linoleum floors. Everything in the kitchen works, but it isn't the most attractive. Most units have a unique oven set-up, in which the oven is above the dishwasher/range rather than below (which can make getting food out of the oven a chore.) Quaintness in the Colonial (Village that is)
July 21, 2015Colonial Village has an amazing neighborhood feel that is made up of all homeowner condos. Built back when actually having space was important - huge living rooms, bedrooms, bathrooms, and even outside in the courtyards. Each apartment is unique but with modern updates. Zoned parking right in front never leaves you looking for a spot plus the Court House metro is steps away! Only a bridge hop across from Georgetown, easily accessible to anywhere in Arlington including all major roads and ...highways, and if you're up for walking Clarendon is only 10 minute straight shot down Wilson Blvd.Read MoreReview from Apartments.com
Wonderful community, older buildings
July 20, 2015The colonial village community is perfect. As a girl living on my own I feel very safe, even at night. The apartments themselves differ because they are each privately owned. But this is great in terms of landlords because you don't have to deal with management companies and you get to know (and hopefully like) your landlord. It's easier to have a good relationship. My apartment is carpeted. It's is a spacious studio with TWO very large walk in closets which is amazing. Plus there is a dressing ...room (a small room off the main room and one of the closets and bathroom are off the dressing room.) This makes the apartment feel more like a one bedroom because there is the privacy of the dressing room. The kitchen is separate and pretty big for a studio! Dishwasher, stove, and microwave! Plus there is plenty of room for a kitchen table and chairs. My favorite part of the apartment is the windows! There are three in the main room, on in the kitchen, and on in the bathroom. And they look out on the beautiful woods in the back! It's wonderful and private. Laundry is communal in the next building over. I can hear the road a little from my apartment but that doesn't bother me. My biggest company would be that the A/C unit in my apartment is very old and a bit noisy. But I can live with that. Overall a wonderful place to live. (Almost forgot it's a beautiful 5-10 minute walk form courthouse metro!). And you can walk to so many other places!Read MoreReview from Apartments.com
