Noise, bugs, poor management, and structural concerns
November 14, 2023I lived at Commonwealth Crossing 2021-2023. Building 1708. It's low cost, and the apartments are spacious and overall look good. The maintenance team is very friendly and responsive, I was very thankful for them while I lived there. And that's about where the positives stop. Here are some negatives: 1708 is right behind a playground for an elementary school. Screaming children, all day, Monday to Friday, September to May. The sound of screaming children was made worse by the fact that my unit ...was randomly missing two window panes when I moved in. The walls are T H I N. I could hear everything from my neighbors, and I'm sure they could hear me. Management did nothing about loud music in the buildings. I once complained to them about my downstairs neighbor playing loud music and yelling in the middle of the night, and they told me to call the police. There was a fruit fly infestation in the building. I heard from another tenant that there's a mouse infestation in another. Once every couple weeks to once a month, SOMETHING got shut off for a day or three. Water, heat, gas. Water damage! I had three different leaks over three months. The first one wasn't terrible, the second one was quite bad, and the third one COLLAPSED MY BATHROOM CEILING. I tried to end my lease early after that one, but was told (aggressively) that there was no structural issue, no mold (despite being able to clearly see and smell it), and that I would have to pay two months rent and give 60 day notice to leave early. They then "fixed" it by painting over it and patching the ceiling. The maintenance guys are really nice and quite responsive, but they continually told me things were fixed when they clearly weren't. Management doesn't actually resolve any problems, and get aggressive and rude when you push for a resolution. They will NOT let you out of your lease for any reason. They WILL make you take them to court if it comes to that. After all of this, when they gave me my option to renew the lease, they tried to increase my rent by 15%. I'm generally pretty low maintenance when it comes to my living space. I could deal with the noise, the flies, the neighbors, the rude management, the service shutoffs. But when my ceiling collapsed and management got aggressive with me and refused to let me out of my lease, I just about lost it. This place isn't worth the moldy planks holding my ceiling together.Read MoreReview from Apartments.com
Infestation Concern
January 5, 2021We recently toured this place and both units we were shown had dead roaches around BOTH units. Units weren't even cleaned for us prior to showing. We asked the leasing agent about the infestation issue and she mentioned they do monthly extermination so clearly it's an on going issue. It's a shame because the apartment size overall were very nice and spacious but unfortunately, the pest issue turned me away fast. Apartments looked nothing like advertising photos as far as lighting goes.Review from Apartments.com
2 BR Commonwealth Apts
August 1, 2015Roomy apartment on the 3rd floor. Never any insect problems which was a first for apartments I've lived in. Generally a quiet place except for people that congregated outside weekly maybe and smoked causing smoke to seep into my apt. I would move back in a heartbeat as long as the price does not increase too much. Laundry room is fine and parking is fine though can be annoying especially on Sunday nights. Oh yeah, water pressure on the 3rd floor is not good...often times where you can't shower ...b/c someone below is consuming the pressure. So a few annoyances, but you get used to them quickly and it's minor stuff. Management is super responsive and kind. Clean, affordable, simple, and great location.Read MoreReview from Apartments.com
