The Exchange, completed in 1910, once housed the Cotton and Merchant's Exchange where fortunes were won and lost. Today, the revitalized Exchange Building is a mixed-use hotel and residences, first of its kind in Memphis.     I’m an attorney based in Memphis, TN, and I’ve lived at the exchange building for several years now. It’s a beautiful, historic high rise that’s centrally located in downtown Memphis, so it makes for an easy walk to Beale Street or the courthouse - on a bad night, both! The rent is affordable and, more importantly, the building is owned by a local family so you don’t have to worry about calling some corporate leasing office every time you need a ceiling light replaced or your garbage disposal ...
