Renters Reviews and Ratings
A poor location and feeling of being taken advantage of.
October 31, 2022I am a current tenant. Unless you have to commute to Manhattan every day, this place may not be good for you. The place is close to the Lincoln tunnel and, that's about the only benefit you can get from this location. The place is in the middle of an industrial zone. There is no cafe or no decent breakfast places nearby. You will need to drive for those basic city amenities. The management is a believer and practitioner of a full-blown capitalism. I was paying hundreds of dollars more for the ...rent than market-rate during the pandemic. I raised this issue to the management and asked them if you could lower the rent. They wouldn't do that unless I sign up for a 2 year lease. I opted not. New tenants were paying hundreds of dollars less for a similar unit for 1 year lease. They were gladly pocketing the extra hundreds of dollars from me every month. Capitalism screws people opportunistically, and I got screwed because I let them. During and after the pandemic, I have been going month-to-month. As the market turned up, they sent me a notice either to accept increased rent price or to move out, about a week before the end of a month. Basically, they gave me a week of notice to move out or accept the increased rent. On top of that, they said that unless I move out before the end of the month, I would have to give them a 60-day notice to move out. This 60-day notice was a new requirement they came up with, with one week of notice. Who could possibly move out with one week of notice? So, basically, they increased move out notice from 30 days to 60 days without giving me any opportunity to plan to the change of the contract. Before this, I only had to give a 30-day notice because I already fulfilled the required lease term period. For the extra 30 day they brilliantly added on the notice period clause, they will pocket hundreds of dollars more from my account. They are very good capitalistically but make the world we live in a little harsher.Read MoreReview from Apartments.com
I’m a current tenant at this wonderful place I call home!
July 15, 2020It’s like a Hotel, so comfortable and stunning pool. It’s a place I feel safe and relaxed. Love the building!Review from Apartments.com
Great Experience
May 7, 2018I recently moved out of the Gateway due to having a young child and needing more space - but I must say that, from move-in to move-out, my entire experience was smooth and seamless. The Gateway is a great value for the dollar (similar buildings in the area charge much higher rent for equivalent units) - and the entire building is extremely well-maintained; management is very responsive and easy to deal with; and maintenance requests are handled very promptly and professionally.Review from Apartments.com
Horrible Treatment by Management
April 4, 2018Though the building is new and beautiful, it is not at all worth the treatment we received by management upon moving out. There are too many other equivalent options in the area to even consider moving in here. They lied to us, were unresponsive, and went behind our backs during our move out in order to take every dollar possible from us and left us feeling scammed and ripped off. It is sad because we worked with them for months prior to us moving out in order to help them rent the apartment as ...quickly as possible. The pros of the building do not outweigh the cons and bitter taste that they left us with. Look elsewhere!Read MoreReview from Apartments.com
Beautiful building
November 18, 2016Living at the Gateway has been a great experience for my husband and I. The building management has been more than accommodating to our needs and concerns. The upkeep and amenities are great. It is perfectly located for an enjoyable night out (5 minute walk to Washington St in Hoboken) and is less than a minute away from the Lincoln tunnel. There's so many good things I can say about the place but you would have to be here to experience it!!!Review from Apartments.com
