Affordable, Clean and Close to CTA
February 23, 2021The building is well maintained, clean and quiet. The washing machines are sufficient for tenants and I never have to wait for its availability in the morning. I like that I can walk to many grocery stores: target, Jewel, Walgreen and Aldi and the place is 5 mins walk to redline and 10 walk to purple line.Review from Apartments.com

Nightmare
November 3, 2018I’m not confrontational, so this is tough for me. But, yesterday I came home to the property manager in my apartment! No notice, no letter, nothing. Illegal! She said she was lighting a pilot light in the stove. I told her to get out and that I had the right to call the police. And if she ever breaks in again, I will! The building is old and gross and the vibes/atmospherez of the building are terrible due to the bad property manager. She gossips about tenants to other tenants, does little to ...foster good will, and quite frankly is a monster. Beware when renting here.Read MoreReview from Apartments.com
Affordable but unimpressive
April 1, 2017Moved in to a dirty apartment with hair all the floors and dead cockroaches in the kitchen. When touring the apartment initially these issues were unseen but after moving in, I'm disgusted. The building is old and smelly, the floors creak, and my apartment has a chemical smell. The laundry room is tiny and nasty and the walls are thin, so everyone can hear each other. The pluses are the building is close to the Sheridan Red Line stop, it's in walking distance to a 7/11, Walgreens, and a few ...restaurants. Suggestions for senior management: hire a energetic property manager who takes pride in caring for the building. Thank you.Read MoreReview from Apartments.com

July 29, 2015This building is furnished with old gas stoves. The pilot lights often go out and need to be relit. Even when they are lit and have been lit for a while, the stove emits a strong smell that I can’t quite put my finger on. It is slightly different from the normal gas smell. This smell fills the entire apartment and is quite overwhelming every time I come home. I have complained about this multiple times and was told by the building manager that “that’s just how they smell.” There are ...roaches. The radiators are very loud. The building manager puts signs up all over to let residents know that the radiator knobs have to be either fully open or fully closed; that if they are somewhere in between, you will start a large leak, causing water damage. In the winter, my apartment could be freezing or sweltering. It could be 20* outside and my radiators won’t be on, or it could be 40* and my radiators are on full blast. I could never tell when they would be on. I have a space heater to make up the difference. Electric is included in the rent, so that helps with that problem. Smoking is allowed in the building. The hallways can smell of it. I put a thick rug at the base of my door leading to the hallway to stop the smoke from entering my apartment. There is no convenient way for people to smoke outside of the apartment. I personally do not allow anyone to smoke in my apartment. When I have friends over who smoke, the building manager yells at them for loitering if they are within 40 feet of the building. There is no recycling system for the building. There are three washing machines and two dryers in the basement. Often, the dryer will require more than one cycle to finish drying. If you leave your clothes in the dryer in the winter, they will feel frozen when you take them out. Each dryer has broken down at least once since I moved in (a little over a year ago). The best time to do laundry is when everyone else is at work or out on a weekend night. If no one’s used the toilet in a few hours, it usually requires a second flush to get everything down. If I haven’t run water in a few days, the bathroom drains will stink up the bathroom area and the hot water in the kitchen sink will come out orange for a few seconds. Last winter, the inside of my windows had icicles on them. They had such a horrible draft. The building is getting new windows as I write this. They are working their way from the top down and have finished 12 units so far.Read MoreReview from Apartments.com
