10/10 Recommend
November 21, 2022Pleasant application process, outstanding management and very attentive maintenance. The price is incredible, especially for the area, and so far I have been absolutely pleased with every aspect of living here. The area is amazing, and the history behind this building is just dreamy. I could not recommend this place highly enough.Review from Apartments.com
Moved to Melbourne from Alps
December 25, 2020I have been in the Alps Apartments for 30 years and got a great move in deal here. All utilities including gas, electric, water, trash, and Google fiber are a flat rate of $105. There is on indoor laundry, elevator, and adequate parking. The office manager and maintenance supervisor are very helpful.Review from Apartments.com

Wouldn't Recommend
July 24, 2019At this time, I can't recommend this apartment complex. When I first moved in April 2018, it was great. No washer/dryer or dishwasher, but I could make it work. It being an older building, it made sense that the elevator was also older. What doesn't make sense is the elevator being out of service for over 8 months! I lived up on the 7th floor and a) had to walk up those stairs everyday at least once and b) move my entire apartment out with no elevator. The apartment's "compensation" was taking ...$100 off one month's rent. Additionally, the office staff cared very little about water leaking in through my cracked window frames. The owners and office staff told me that it wasn't an emergency, so my apartment leaked for an entire weekend until maintenance came to put caulk in it. That "repair" didn't last long either. Until some serious overhaul can be done to this building, it's not worth it.Read MoreReview from Apartments.com
Keep looking
August 4, 2018You're paying for location, but if you want to live comfortably, you'll be paying significantly more than rent. Utilities are a flat fee, but my experience was that the radiators work poorly. I was on a top corner unit, but the radiators are centrally controlled so in the winter it was freezing cold in my apartment but reasonable in common areas. You'll also pay ($85 /mo.) for air conditioning, which you'll need in the summer. Street parking can be hard to come by if you get home late in the ...evening. You can pay more to rent a space behind the building. Laundry is $3.50 a load to wash and dry. The Melbourne was functional for a year, but I was glad to leave. The units are pretty sound proof so you won't hear your neighbors. The elevator was broken the weekend my lease ended (for safety/needed maintenance so I'm glad I wasn't using it)so I had to make at least a dozen trips to the 8th floor in 100 degree weather. Don't expect your unit to be pristine when you move in, and unless you hire your own professional cleaners, you won't get your deserved deposit back.Read MoreReview from Apartments.com
I Am Never Moving!
July 27, 2018I have lived at The Melbourne for four years. With local ownership and caring, on-site management and maintenance staff, any small issues that I have had get taken care of promptly without any hassle. The building is historic, updated with new appliances and flooring, but are still the most affordable option on the Country Club Plaza. Within walking distance of UMKC; a bus stop right in front for transportation to Rockhurst and the community colleges; and only a five-minute drive, (or better yet, ...a Lyft or Uber), from the Westport entertainment district, The Melbourne is perfect for students, but is still a quiet building. It is safe and secure with keyed entry. Flat-rate, affordable utility payments. Pets are welcome. On-site laundry facilities. Parking spaces are available, too. To reiterate, I AM NEVER MOVING!!!!Read MoreReview from Apartments.com
