Aside from serving as a honorary property maintenance, myself and my wife served diligently as caretakers for the young children in our building, bringing multiple instances of domestic/child abuse to the attention of the landlord and law enforcement. We also worked unsuccessfully to preserve a calm and peaceful living environment. One that was free of drunken disorderly conduct, large dogs barking day and night and over the acceptable limit of “living noise” from neighbors. In my experience the property manager’s business model is to provide a standard of living that is inches above the bare minimum and charge as if you’re living in a NYC penthouse. But hey, at least the roof works… for the time being..
