Great at first, but be aware
June 3, 2021On the surface, these apartments are great. The neighborhood is relatively quiet, the units get great natural light and have private balconies, and each floor has its own washer and dryer. But I should have known it was too good to be true when my mom pointed out the bedroom didn't even have a ceiling light and one of the kitchen drawers was missing. I was promised that (the drawer) would be replaced before I moved in (Sept 2020). It didn't happen until mid-January 2021. A few other red flags: - ...Property management communicates with tenants almost solely via mass text, usually with a short notice about fumigation, water cutoffs, or parking issues (more on that in a second). I've seen the property manager face to face exactly once and that was when he came to my unit accidentally looking to confirm claims of black mold. Turns out the unit he was looking for was in another building (allegedly, according to what he and the maintenance person with him figured out in my living room). - The washer and dryer routinely eat money without washing or drying your clothes "because the coin box is full". The solution? Take your clothes out of the machine and go down to the first floor ones to put more coins in and hopefully they'll work for you. - The apartments are sprayed monthly by an exterminator. Despite this happening every 30 days or so, there's still small roaches, spiders, and termites everywhere. Not a deep infestation but enough to make you wonder why this person comes out every month just for the problem to persist. And this was in place prior to my moving in, so it's clearly been a known issue. - I have on more than one occasion had to park my car two blocks away at a nearby park because there is inadequate parking and other tenants had multiple of people over (I'm talking 10+ people parties in a one bedroom apartment in the middle of a pandemic). They've now assigned each unit a single parking spot with no parking for any guests. This evening I had a friend get towed within an hour of being here for parking in what he thought was an unmarked parking space. This with no attempt to find what unit the car belonged to or remedy any misunderstanding. The reason he was given for the tow was "illegal parking", yet the spot where his car should have been was occupied by the maintenance truck for the building and two other vehicles are clearly ACTUALLY parked illegally (in the sectioned off 'loading space' for accessible parking).Read MoreReview from Apartments.com
