Anybody who watches the Food Network knows who Emeril Lagasse is. That unmistakable voice, brash but loveable personality, and attention to crafting great food on TV along with you in your apartment, teaching you creating dishes you might never think of on your own. And while it's awesome to teach an apartment-ite to fish, sometimes you just want to go down to the teacher's house and pay for the fish yourself. That's where Emeril's restaurant comes in. Located right in the heart of Miami Beach, the restaurant offers the perfect balance of fancy, but down-to-earth food in a warm yet upscale dining environment. The dress code is business casual, to match. Coming through the golden gates emblazoned with the chef's name, it's easy to know what to expect. The menu features "new" New Orleans cuisine, including mouth-watering delights such as pan-fried jumbo lump crab cake with bloody mary coulis, and miso-glazed atlantic salmon with forbidden Thai rice. Vegetarian apartment-ites can feast on the homemade spinach-ricotta ravioli, but sadly there are no veggie appetizer options. The restaurant also offers an impressive dessert menu, so if you find yourself getting understandably full at dinner, you can always take the mango key lime pie with cinnamon sugared plaintains back to your apartment. Emeril's is also open for brunch (try the Grand Marnier french toast), and lunch, and reservations are recommended, but not essential. If you're in for a long wait, though, the well-stocked bar boasts an impressive mint julep as well as comfy seats. The restaurant is open until 10.30pm, but you'll wish you could stay there a lot longer.
