Aimco is a money hungry corporation
August 16, 20201. Charges more than they offer 2. Management is slow and unhelpful you have to figure out things by yourself 3. The car wash station is almost never working 4. Overcrowded and henceforth you never have parking that you PAID for which is 14 dollars per month. 5. Charge for trash service even when there is no TRASH PICKUP 6. Management complains about breezeway being occupied Like what 7. Will always try to take your money in hidden fees on top of your base rent 8. First half of the lease the ...experience is okay but once they got too overcrowded the experience went downhill *only Melissa is helpfulProperty Manager Responded

Terrible Moving out experience
November 15, 2019Only Melissa is very friendly, helpful and efficient (that is one star for). However the moving-out experience was terrible, they charged me $280 for painting and $100 for general cleaning. When I requested the invoice and picture of before-and-after, they only sent me the painting invoice which turned out $250. They are not honest. After charging another ~$200 for the water/sewer/trash, I have to pay another ~$50 without getting any deposit back. Can you believe that water/sewer/trash fee is ...$200 for two months ($100 per month)? Living in single home won't have that expensive utility fee. Besides, there is no grace period for the rent at all, if you pay at 00:01 am on the 2nd day of the month, you have to pay $75 late fee. And their manger Tara never replied your emails. I would like any potential resident to hesitate before you sign the lease.Read MoreReview from Apartments.com
Dishonest
May 21, 2019I recently visited this property and was shocked by the attitude of the person guiding us. This person completely ignored my girlfriend and would act like he could not understand what she was saying, so I would have to speak on her behalf. The entire time he refused to look at her. A day later, I received an email asking for a review and offering to enter me in a competition for a gift card. I completed this review and stated what I stated here, but in more detail. A day later I receive an email ...from the individual demanding to know why I gave a bad review when he had the impression I enjoyed the tour. Excuse me, but 1 this is unprofessional, someone from HR should be contacting me. 2, what happened to survey anonymity The person I review should have no right to know what I rated them and should certainly not be contacting me in regards to my rating. Long story short, if you go and do fill the survey, know your privacy is not respected.Read MoreReview from Apartments.com

Excellent Place So Far
April 19, 2018My family and I were recently relocated by my employer to the US. I found the place on this website and scheduled a visit with Melissa. From the moment I walked in the leasing office their attention was awesome. Every one of them were kind and willing to listen and answer all of my questions and needs. As a foreigner, with 2 young kids you can imagine I had plenty. In the end, we loved the apartment and they made the entire process easy and painless. So far I have to say I love the place, the ...apartment, the location, and specially the schools in the area. My family and I couldn't be happier.Read MoreReview from Apartments.com
Bad management
July 24, 2017Long story short, on July 19th, water leaked from upstairs up to 2 inches from my floor and my ceiling collapsed. The management office is giving no compensation other than the hotel fees for seven days for which we have to stay while it gets my apartment fixed. Here is what happened that day in detail: I woke up at 3 in the morning because of the sound of water leaking. When I woke up, water was being poured down from the light bulb and the air conditioning holes and it was already up to 2 ...inches from my floor. My family and I had to shovel out the water for about 90 minutes after which we finally decided to call the emergency line. (The water was dropping faster than we could shovel it out to the sink). While we were waiting for the maintenance guys to arrive, the ceiling of my living room suddenly collapsed because it could not hold the weight of the water anymore. It was very traumatic and so we had to stay out of the house for a while. This was not the first time we had a water problem. We consistently notified them that there is water leaking from the ceiling. They repaired it but we repeatedly had the same issue time to time. My wall and ceiling had water stains and mold visibly. The water that fell that day was nasty (it was as yellow as pee) and my furniture were all wet by the dirty water. I complained about the unsafe and unhealthy environment and asked for the cost to move out. They said that they will “dry” the furniture so that we can “reuse” them and that they will not charge us the penalty for moving out but that was all they offered. 2012 . . 7 19 , , , . 3 . 90 911 . . . . . . .Property Manager Responded

Excellent place to live
January 24, 2016I've been here almost 30 years and have been extremely pleased. The staff and maintenance crews are very good at their jobs, especially during an emergency situation I had a few months back. They went over and above what I expected to help me and continued to check in with me for several weeks after things were resolved. During the snowzilla this week, the maintenance crews have worked round the clock to clear the sidewalks and parking lots. The office has sent out emails of what is a priority ...and to reassure the residents. I highly recommend Shenandoah Crossing.Read MoreReview from Apartments.com
Could Be Better, Could Be Worse
October 10, 2015I moved in about 2 months ago and find my apartment to be tolerable. If I am financially able to break my lease early, however, I will do so. THE PROS: The location is great. The community is near major highways and plenty of large shopping centers, many with 24-hour stores. For those with children, there is a decent elementary, middle, and high school nearby. The community is well lit, and I feel safe here. It is a nice neighborhood for a stroll. The gym and the pool are both quite nice, ...and management is working on improving the landscaping and repainting the parking lot. The grounds are kept clean. It is difficult to find nearby parking late at night sometimes, but I have always been able to find spots around the back of my building, which just means a little extra walking. The apartment itself is spacious. The closets are big, and the full-size washer and dryer is great. There are a lot of windows, which means a lot of sunlight for my cat. I like having laminate floors instead of carpet, as it makes cleaning easier.. The office staff is friendly and tries to be helpful. THE CONS: I chose not to pay extra for a renovated unit so did not get to see an unrenovated unit before moving in. The cabinets are quite old, and the veneer is peeled off in spots. They are also not hung straight, which admittedly only offends my OCD. The countertop is very old and chipped. My unit did not come with a microwave, which was a surprise, as some units do. My apartment is very noisy. The apartment directly above me has creaky floors, and it sometimes sounds like a herd of elephants are up there. I am on the ground level, and when it rains heavily or the A/C is on, the pipes become very noisy and it sounds like a gurgling brook in my living room. I learned this is because there is one drainage pipe that connects the A/C in my apartment plus both apartments above me. I was told that because the pipe goes underground, there was nothing that could be done, and that at least summer is over. Then there are the ants. After three sprayings by pest control, I gave up and bought my own bait traps. I asked that the outside be sprayed (this worked when I had ants in the house I owned) and that crevices be caulked. I was told pest control won't spray outside, and my repeated requests for caulking were ignored. In general, I feel that while the staff tries to be helpful, there is not much effort put into actually trying to fix anything.Read MoreReview from Apartments.com
Lived there for 4 years and I am glad to be gone
August 14, 2015During the time I live there, the staff was responsive to most of my issues. The place was relatively quiet the grounds are kept clean. Things that turned me off about the place are: Roaches - After living there about 3 weeks, I started to see roaches. I told the management and they treated multiple times, but the roach problem seemed to get worse. After about a year of trying to get the management to get rid of the problem, I decided to take care of the issue myself and I found a method on the ...internet that got rid of the roaches in about 3 weeks. However, I am sure that my neighbors still have them. Move out policy - when I moved in, I was told that I was required to give a 2 month notice before moving out while I was still under the lease, and a one month notice if I was on a month-to-month. some time during my residency, the policy changed and I was not informed of the change. The new policy is 2 months in both cases. When I gave my notice, I was on a month-to-month and I gave about 6 weeks notice (still no one told me about the changed policy). They ended up charging me about $600.00 for the days short of 2 months. Move out Cleaning - When I moved out, they charged me a cleaning fee, even though I left the place spotless. When I ask them specifically what was not clean, they would only say that I am being charged because I didn't hire a professional cleaning service. Month-to-month fee - An annoying aspect of renting here is that no mater how long you have lived here, they charge you a $300.00 fee every month when you go on month to month. Mail delivery - They stopped accepting mail at the main office; now, packages either sit in front of my apartment door all day, or they goes back to the post office and I have to pick them up. The tow-away policy is very strict. The towing company comes around every night looking for any excuse to tow away a car. I had a rental car for one day while my car was in the shop. It got towed because I forgot to put the sticker in the window, There is no warning and there are lots of things that you can do to get your car towed.Read MoreReview from Apartments.com

Maintenance, Location
August 15, 2015I have lived here for 1 year. Whenever I request maintenance, it is done in a day. My apartment is near Chantilly H.S. It takes 5 minutes to go there on foot. I think it really convenient for students. Many residents use the gym because it is quite big. My two sons work out everyday. And a big mall locates 5 minutes away. It includes many restaurants and markets. I don't have to go far for grocery shopping. I am satisfied with my apartment.Review from Apartments.com
