Constant HVAC Issues
August 27, 2024Since the new management took over in April 2024, the HVAC system has remained broken, leaving residents without air conditioning during the hottest months of the year. In April, we were told that major updates to the system were underway. Despite these assurances, the HVAC broke again in May, and we waited weeks for replacement parts. In July, the system failed once more. We were again told that parts were on order and that underlying issues were being addressed. In early August, during one ...of the hottest months of the year, the AC stopped working yet again. This time, management claimed they were ordering a backlog of parts to prevent future delays. Just 2-3 weeks later, the AC failed again during the peak of summer. The only solution offered throughout all of this was small portable units that couldn’t cool entire apartments. Despite repeated assurances that the next round of fixes would resolve the issues and everything would be be back to normal, the HVAC issues have persisted all summer. Unfortunately, I cannot recommend living here.Property Manager Responded

0/10 do NOT recommend
May 23, 2024Constant HVAC issues leaving tenants with no heat in the winter and no AC in the summer for weeks at a time. The building is supposed to be “secure” but the loading dock door is constantly left wide open for anyone to gain access to the building. This is extremely concerning considering there’s a large amount of homeless people in the surrounding area. There’s no place for visitors to park, just very minimal street parking— there’s often none available. Amenities are not maintained, there have ...been broken tables and overgrown weeds in the outdoor area for years. Packages are left in the hallways for anyone to steal, even though they’re supposed to be placed in a locked delivery room. Management is impossible to get in contact with, and if you ever do get a response they are extremely rude. The units within the apartment are beautiful, and it’s just such a shame that it is managed so poorly because Heinz 950 could be an amazing place to live. However, it is not worth the headache and expensive price tag. I highly recommend looking at other apartment complexes in the area.Property Manager Responded
May 23, 2024We certainly understand your frustration and share in that with you. Please know that we came into this situation less than 1 month ago and have been working diligently to correct the issues. Unfortunately, some of the parts have had a large lead time and on top of that some have not arrived when expected. Once we have the current issues corrected and all systems running again, we will be taking immediate measures and investing greatly into upgrading the HVAC system, performing preventative maintenance, and installing surge protection to ensure these issues do not continue. We can offer you a permanent or temporary transfer to a unit that is on a system that has working HVAC at this time. If this is something that you would be interested in discussing with our management team, please do not hesitate to reach out to us.

Constant Problems -- No AC, lack of parking, plumbing issues, and on and on and on
April 2, 2024We've continually had AC problems and have even switched apartments in the complex hoping that we would have a better experience in a different section of the building. No luck. We've now currently been without AC for most of 2024 since January 1st. I've lived in the complex for almost 5 years and it is just one thing after the next. The first year was great and I truly loved it. Then came plumbing issues and the toilets and sinks were continually plugged up. Management at the time said the ...cause was "the creative pipework" that was installed. "Creative" meaning the building is historic and there were certain rules they had to abide by, which meant traditional routes for pipework were impossible. We suffered for more than six months until our neighbor moved so they could tear out a portion of their wall to fix the plumbing. Then came AC issues. Basically, we've been with and without AC for more than 3 years. Every time they say it's fixed something else comes up and the AC is down. We switched apartments and things were once again great and we fell in love with the apartment and area. Then more AC issues and it's been nonstop since last year. This has been incredibly frustrating. As for parking, very minimal street parking. One spot in the garage used to be free, but they've since stopped including that and each spot is now a hundred bucks a month. Want friends or family over? Good luck finding parking outside the garage. The good: the area. The apartment complex is close enough to walk to downtown, PNC Park, Acrisure Stadium. But it's not worth it because living here with the constant issues is horrible. On top of all that, all the walls are so thin. You constantly hear your neighbors and they hear you.Read MoreReview from Apartments.com
No Air conditioning
September 6, 2023Our apartment has been with out AC going on two weeks. The Office Manager has not returned my voice mails and or my emails. The past three days in Pittsburgh the weather has been hot and humid and the apartment has been unbearable. This HVAC issue has been ongoing and they won’t make a permanent fix. Something needs to be done. I’m so disappointed in Heinz at 950 North Shore Apartments I have been a loyal tenant for almost 5 years. This is how this new office manager is treating loyal tenants.Review from Apartments.com
Fantastic Place To Live!!!
November 23, 2020I have been living in the Heinz 950 for about 3 months now. I have truly enjoyed the experience so far. The apartments are so very nice and well kept! Anytime I need anything I call and Bob takes care of it immediately! There could not be a better Manager than Bob! He truly takes care of the concerns of all the residence in the apartments! The Maintenance Crew are first class! They are always walking making sure everything is in order and clean!! I moved from a large house and truly didn't ...know if this place would work for me and my daughter! Honestly I wish I had moved here sooner! It's perfect for the both of us! She loves the Bldg and being close to the strip and downtown but still feeling like she's in the Burbs! When I first look at the property Bob was very nice and made sure I understood everything! I literally knew that day that Heinz 950 would be my new home! Even after moving in Bob still treats me as if I am a potential new resident! You don't get that everywhere! I'm looking forward to many good times here!!!!!! I would advice anyone to please take a look you will not be disappointed!!!! Heinz 950 Home Sweet Home!!!!!!!!!!!!!Property Manager Responded

Horribly thin walls, loud neighbors
July 20, 2020Walls between units are paper thin. Had to listen to my neighbors talk, and everything else, every single night he was there. I could FEEL his voice between walls. Some units have bedrooms with no windows and closets, which you will see when touring, but it's a lot more annoying than you may expect. But, the reason for my low review is how bad the walls are. Who puts bedrooms BACK TO BACK, and then puts 1 sheet of drywall as a separator? I can't comment on management, since a new group took over ...at the end of my lease. But unless you can sleep like a bear or want to take the risk and hope you have quiet mice as neighbors, I'd stay far away.Property Manager Responded
August 3, 2020Hi there, thank you for bringing these concerns to our attention. We appreciate your feedback and your thoughts matters to us because we're always looking for ways to improve. While we're sad to have lost you as a resident, we wish you well on your next adventure!

Good times; great lofts.
May 2, 2017You know how when you go looking for an apartment and the "office people" are really really nice? You sign on the dotted line that day because you're being pressured by the Botox blonde woman sitting across from you. You move your stuff in. You're so happy that you found a spot in a cool place; everything's sunshine and rainbows. And then something breaks or you're THAT idiot who decided to ignore what your mom told you and try to grind up spaghetti in the sink (okay, I was that idiot many ...years ago, too). You call the office people and state you need some maintenance on your sink--you probably lie as to what happened because what idiot puts spaghetti down the sink. A day goes by.....and then another....and then things just aren't smelling so great in your awesome apartment that made you feel like you were flying on unicorns five days ago. So you go to the office to complain and the same office people who pressure you into signing 500 documents now look at you like you're an idiot? Heck.....you might not even have a problem--you might be dropping off your rent. You might be going to use the "community center" that has one television and a few ugly chairs. You think, I'm paying all of this money but they don't even know I live here--because you're looked at like you're a stranger by the staff every single time you pass them. If you've never had any of these happen to you before, then you haven't lived in an apartment--or maybe you now live where I live: 950 Northshore. I love this place. And big props to the staff. The building manager even lives here! It's kind of like going to a restaurant and knowing that the food is good because the workers are eating the same food on their break. If an employee of the property lives here, then it must be good. And it is. He has worked with me to help me find exactly what I need. He answers my questions. He knows who I am. And he plans get-togethers for the residents. We just had a Pens party a couple of weeks ago and it was a blast. He didn't just drop off the pizza and wings.....he sat back and enjoyed the game with us. I mean, do you really get that anywhere else? I've only ever found it here.Read MoreReview from Apartments.com
Great Place, Great Building Manager.
April 10, 2017This place is amazing. Chris is the on-site building manager, and he actually lives here--so that's a pretty good sign. He treats us residents really well. Case in point: when I moved in, my 11-year-old nephew came to help move the small stuff. I introduced him to Chris and a couple of hours later, Chris remembered my nephew's name. That meant a lot to me--to know that I wasn't just a number here--especially coming from a small town and starting a new life in the city. I've always wanted ...to live in a loft-style apartment in a historical building--and you can't get much more historical than Heinz--it really was love at first sight for me. There are different floor plans--so you literally can pick the one that best suits your personality. I really liked the industrial, exposed-beams look--so I went with that. I work in the South Side--but all I have to do to get there is jump on one of the highways or go through downtown and I'm at my place of work within 20 minutes (with traffic). I really like to walk across the 16th Street Bridge and hang out at the Strip District--especially now that the weather is getting warmer. There are many reasons why people choose certain apartments. I chose this one because I'm a woman who likes the good life without spending too much. Other similar apartments in the area just don't compare to the bargain that I got for my one-bedroom. Parking is included in the rent--I couldn't find that anywhere. The fitness center is a full-service gym with brand-new Precor equipment--there's even a room to do virtual classes like yoga and spinning. I also spend a lot of time in the lounge--there's two pool tables and a foosball table....and enough room to throw one heck of a get-together. There's even some talk of having a Game of Thrones night when the season starts up this summer.Read MoreReview from Apartments.com
