Frequent construction noise unconscionably loud, impossible to work from home
March 10, 2021I've lived in The Ritz Plaza for 3 years. There's been good and bad, but I'm leaving 1 star and I'll talk about the bad first because I think it's important for prospective residents to be aware: It feels like the construction in this building is CONSTANT. There is loud drilling that can be heard reverberating through the walls for days at a time, and it keeps happening every few weeks. The noise is so loud it makes it hard to do anything at home. It's made things so much worse now that we work ...from home due to COVID-19. I frequently have to cancel meetings because the noise during work hours is too loud and distracting. We've written management several times about this issue. They've told us that the drilling is done and won't happen again. Then, a few days later, there's more drilling. This isn't just some hammering several floors/apartments away that you can kind of hear. This is a loud, constant drilling that fills the apartment with noise and vibrations. For anybody who works from home (or juts enjoys having a quiet home or being able to think clearly), I do NOT recommend living here. An example: We spend time out of town in part because it's too hard to work from home in the building. We returned two days ago and yesterday was my first day trying to work in my apartment again. There was more drilling throughout the apartment that they did not warn us of ahead of time. We reached out to management and they apologized for the unexpected noise. They then told us--with LESS THAN A DAY'S NOTICE--that there would be noise and vibrations for 5 hours during the workday today (10am-3pm). I'm in my bedroom with noise-canceling headphones and the drilling is omnipresent. It's yet another day I'm unable to participate in work meetings with almost zero notice. We've expressed our concerns to management more times than I can count, and they have been unwilling to be flexible with us. We feel trapped here--all we want is to live in an apartment we can also work in. The good: - The doormen are awesome - The apartments are a decent size, nice closet space, and it's nice having a balcony - The gym and other public areas are nice. The building also used to have fun events pre-COVID-19Read MoreReview from Apartments.com
living in a construction site
November 20, 2019Moved in one month ago. The building is under renovation and its super noisy every weekday. The leasing office didn't tell us before we decide to rent here. And they said there no guaranteed end date of the renovation. If you wanna live in a place with a reasonable quietness that a human being need, don't stay here.Review from Apartments.com
