  • Disgusting

    March 14, 2023
One star is too much, PLEASE do your research and look elsewhere for reviews. The unit they provided me was filthy. We took pictures, videos, even walked up to the unit with the manager who looked me in the eye and told me it was a beautiful, clean apartment with a dead roach between her feet. Roaches everywhere. Thick, black mold in the toilet tanks. Consulted a former leasing manager acquaintance who stated the amount of roaches/droppings/exoskeletons we found in the 4 hours spent in the ...
apartment points to an infestation. Not something that could be dealt with by spraying. After paying someone to move me in and back out the next day, paying for a hotel to stay in over the weekend until the leasing office opened (we were told by emergency maintenance that the issue would be “dealt with” during business hours), Wilmington Commons FINALLY agreed to return my deposit about a month later following daily emails that were rarely answered. It was like pulling teeth. And although I never actually inhabited the unit (who could?), I was still forced to pay the remainder of the month’s rent. ASK TO SEE THE UNIT YOU’LL BE MOVING INTO. The model is gorgeous. Don’t fall for it like I did.

I live in a one bedroom apartment and I think it’s a great complex! I have had issues with bugs but it hasn’t been a huge problem. The staff and management are great and take care of my concerns!

  • One of the best options for College Students

    August 6, 2020
CEV Wilmington is a great starting-apartment for students looking for a location that is both affordable and close to UNCW. I lived in a one-man apartment for about a year, and it was great to finally have my own space. The living room and kitchen spaces were nice, and the bedroom was excellent. Laundry and trash are a bit of a hassle to take care of, but it's nothing too crazy. It's not a luxury apartment by any means, but it's not meant to be. It's a place to rest, eat, do homework in a quiet ...
space, etc. If you're looking for an affordable, first-time apartment, I would recommend CEV Wilmington. PS: After reading the past negative-reviews, I can say that most of the problems have been fixed in one way or another.

  • Awful

    October 27, 2019
The office staff is rude and have zero interest in helping. I attempted to move into two units and they were both disgusting and under MANY code violations. Smelled horribly of cigarette smoke, stains on the carpets, drawers falling apart, nails sticking out of the shelves, flooring was tore up, cut out, and peeling up, bugs everywhere, mold in bathroom and bedroom, cabinets were filthy with bugs and other residue. There was no way I was staying in that unit because I would not have felt safe. ...
Not only did I not feel comfortable myself, but didn’t even want my dog living there. I expressed my concerns to Becky the manager and she came up to the unit and said it was one of the cleanest units she had seen that day of move in! I couldn’t believe it. I told her I would not feel comfortable living there and at first she told me to send her an email with the pictures and she would send it to corporate and they would be in touch with me. Then the “regional manager” came in and said the unit wasn’t even bad and there was nothing wrong with it. After that, Becky all of a sudden changed her mind and developed an attitude. We asked her if there was any other way of getting a hold of anyone to discuss canceling the lease and she was insistent on her having to email corporate which I knew wouldn’t happen because how all of the CEV staff say they will do something and then never follow through with it. The unit they show people is absolutely nothing like the units they try moving people into. Talk about misrepresentation. After that day I went back several times to see if they tried fixing any of the issues. All they did was paint over the mold in the bathroom which was poorly done because I could still see the mold through the paint. It got to the point where I didn’t know what to do. My family lives states away so it’s not like I could stay with them in the meantime. Luckily I was able to move in with friends for the time being but now I’m worried it’s going to affect my credit and future opportunities to rent because they will not cancel this leave. My family, friends and I have all emailed and tried calling CEV and pinnacle to get some answers and we get nothing. They do not reply to emails and if you call you will be stuck on hold for more than 20 minutes. We have all wasted so much time and energy on this place and I have never been so disappointed and frustrated.

  • INFESTED WITH COCKROACHES

    September 4, 2019
On August 17th, he was suppose to have been moving in his new apartment at CEV Wilmington. Due to lack of organization on their part and following up on the signed lease that didn’t happen. Once we got all of that settled, with NO help from the manager, he was finally able to pick up his key. The following weekend we rented a uhaul truck to take his furniture from our house to his new apartment. We all unloaded the truck and started to unpack when he picked up the Router box in his bedroom and ...
out came a ton of cockroaches. (first video posted) so we then looked in the dishwasher, stove, refrigerator and his bathroom and found more. I immediately contacted the on call maintenance to have them come out to see the infestation and exterminate or spray. (Which I do not believe will get rid of them as Monday as there is. No one ever contacted me back letting me know that someone had been out there or was planning on going out there. And because of how nasty it is he does not want to stay there and who can blame him. I then called two more times after that as well as spoke with someone at the front desk in regards to how nasty his apartment is and how bad it is infested with cockroaches. All the while neither the manager or the property manager of pinnacle student living will return my phone calls or talk with either him or I. So he typed up a letter demanding termination of lease and we have still yet to get a response and they have still yet to do anything. He went again today to check to see if they were still cockroaches all over and there was and he also went to show the video to the manager “who was not in” conveniently. (Second video) why would anyone allow their housing to be this nasty? If anyone has any ideas as to what we can do or who to call please let me know. And share this post to get the word out!

  • Negative reviews must be surpressed. One star is too many!

    May 7, 2019
As others have noted, the staff is completely incompetent! I am on my THIRD DAY straight to reach ANYONE by phone. There is no ability to leave a message, you are stuck in a constant recorded message telling you "our next available associate will be right with you" and NO ONE answers the phone, EVER. People are allowed to walk dogs everywhere and rarely pick up poop, so the grounds smell like a barn! It is close to campus, that is a plus, but look elsewhere there are better choices!

    March 4, 2019
Since new ownership monthly bills not correct. Utilities are outrageous. Due to maintenance issues had to stay in motel and friends. If you complain always same answer “it’s a third party issue. Call 1-800....”. Roaches are everywhere. AC stopped working during summer time. Was told by Manager Mrs. Rekeshe she will make sure when I move out extra charges for carpet and paint will be added on without inspecting the place (is this a threat?) - probably a fact. At this point looking forward leaving ...

  • Totally incompetent staff

    August 1, 2018
I have recently signed my lease for the third year. I had few complaints for the first two years but for some reason this time around something has apparently gone horribly wrong insofar as the attentiveness and work ethic of the office staff. I signed my lease electronically in May yet was surprised to receive a notice to vacate on move-out day. Upon enquiring, I was informed that no one had bothered to review my electronically signed lease and push it through. So they uploaded another ...
electronic copy which I promptly signed, only to discover the next day when I checked on its status that it had somehow slipped through the cracks again. So they printed me off a physical copy which I signed. This copy was identical to the online version and stated a $100 deduction in price, but come rent day, my price reflects what I was paying before. I called about this and was assured it would be taken care of, only to discover that it has not. To add to this blatant neglect or ignorance of their basic functions as working members of society, I have also been assured several times by at least four different front desk employees that a late fee I received last month due to a mistake on my part entering my credit card number would be alleviated. It has not. So I am left to conclude that a considerable fraction of the staff are either flagrant liars, unpardonable sluggards, or else are just incapable of performing their jobs to the minimum degree of efficiency. All this is made incomparably more insufferable by the overbearing and evidently counterfeit portrayal of friendliness and willingness to help that is put on by them in face-to-face interaction or via phone conversation. I will have to ride out this lease but am already in search of new a superior dwelling and will undoubtedly recommend to anyone who asks that they avoid this place at all costs. One would be better off to live in a Motel 6 for the duration of their college career than to stay here.

  • Great Place to Live

    July 24, 2018
Just moved into the one bedroom loft and I LOVE it! The location is perfect for walking to class and I get an assigned parking spot right outside my door. The amenities are hardly ever super busy and I never have to wait for a chair at the pool. My dog loves the dog park and I have already met a couple other people with dogs in the building. All together, super glad I chose CEV.

  • Horrendous living conditions.

    April 20, 2018
Bugs everywhere. The property won’t do anything I g, and if you try to get them to, tbey make physical threats against their students. They haven’t had WiFi, which is something we pay for, for weeks. The students haven’t been able to do their work in the apartments provided. The manager is power hungry crazy woman who won’t respond to phone calls from adults but have no problem waiting until the second the parent pays the rent, then SHE turns on the students and literally harasses them. What ...
professional company harasses rent paying residents this way? They’d never survive If they weren’t tied to campus. Manager is an angry, petty woman I have 2 kids I trusted to them. They assigned a disgusting, unclean, beer bottle littered apprtment uoon move in, and when we pointed out that they didn’t clean, they yelled at me like it was MY FAULT. Do NOT let your students live here unless you want nightly calls about roaches and ants coming up through the drains they won’t address, and the WiFi won’t ever work, so expect your students to have to spend all their time stressing and studying at the library instead of their more efficient apartment. It will affect their grades. RUN. RUN AND NEVER LOOK BACK.

  • They will charge you for anything to get an extra buck

    September 14, 2017
A word to the wise- don't EVER live at CEV Villages in Wilmington. I moved out over the summer and they are now claiming I owe them over $500 for carpet stains and trash in the kitchen. When I moved out I left that place cleaner than when I moved in. The apartment was FILTHY when I moved in and I spent hours getting it to a livable condition. Throughout living there, the utilities randomly spiked and dropped, and I often paid more for water, sewer and electric than my parents 4 bedroom 3 bath ...
home. Their lease agreement CLEARLY states that water was included, but when I approached them about it, the manager said "they have the right to change what they like." I know these charges are simple due to my parents complaining. Their lease agreement is confusing and a total of 4 pages. My current lease at my new apartment was 25 pages. 4 pages is not normal. The manager there has been extremely rude to my parents on more than one occasion. She also terrified and upset a friend of mine when she simply wanted to pick up a package. Every time I was in the office that lady was yelling at someone. I have never had a worse experience at an apartment complex as I have with CEV. It's over-priced, they treat you like garbage, and it's not worth the short walk. Save yourself the trouble and live somewhere - ANYWHERE - else.

AVOID AVOID AVOID! So many problems here I can't even begin to describe them all. First of all, the staff is unbelievably rude and useless when you have a problem. Issues include: tons of bugs, refusal to fix broken things in the apartment, nightmare neighbors that the complex refuses to deal with, lies about renewal rewards, more bugs, management constantly entering your apartment, and way more. PLEASE don't go through what I did. Living here was honestly the most stressful and miserable ...
