Congress Avenue is one of Austin's busiest streets, making it an ideal location for the Paramount. The building was once Sam Houston's office and it housed the War Department of the Republic of Texas. It also spent some time as the Avenue Hotel before being redesigned into a magnificent theatre. Stepping out of your apartment to visit the Paramount Theatre opens doors to the past. The theatre is a historic landmark that still uses old-fashioned ropes and sandbags on the set. You can witness red carpet premieres, check out a new album release celebration, or sit back and enjoy a number of touring and company shows and musicals.
