Cowboys are as much of a Texas trademark as, well, the longhorn cattle they tend, and Austin is chock full of historic landmarks that pay homage to the men in Stetsons. But let's face it - sometimes these places can be a bit, say, less than exciting. Buffalo Billiards, on the other hand, is about as pulse-raising as it gets. How's this for some juicy Texan trivia - constructed in 1861, the structure (formerly dubbed 'the Missouri House') was a cowboy boarding house of the brothel variety, giving the term 'cowpoke' a whole new meaning. Wild west rowdiness still holds court today (granted of a tad less risqué nature), as Buffalo Billiards contains over 22,000 square feet of gaming excitement. Air hockey, foosball, table bowling and, you guessed it, pool tables dominate the expansive open floor plan of the Buffalo. Plenty of draught beer selections are on hand to quench your thirst after a hard won victory, while numerous flatscreen televisions allow competitive multi-taskers the opportunity to keep abreast on all of the big game action. This being Austin, there's an obligatory live music area for blues and rock in the Lodge, a dining area complete with large party tables and antler-crafted lighting fixtures. For history that keeps the yawning at bay, Buffalo Billiards is a prime spot to saddle up and bring your posse to.
