Serving Austinites since the 70s, Waterloo has always been a popular spot for young business people who hop in and grab a quick lunch while chatting with friends, or for young music fans to gather before a big concert. It's chill, relaxed vibe is perfect for those looking for a casual, delicious meal, without all the high-class frills of many of the restaurants along sixth. Just because the place isn't upscale, doesn't mean that food isn't delicious. There most popular items on the menu are their fresh, real beef hamburgers, which come in a variety of styles, including a guacamole bacon swiss burger, a peppercorn blue cheese burger, with a refreshing peppercorn sauce and blue cheese crumbles, a mushroom swiss burger, and even a Texas Chiliburger, slathered with cheddar cheese and fresh chili. No big deal, you can try one of their delicious tacos, made with any kind of meat you could imagine, from grilled chicken, to sirloin steak, to pulled pork, even catfish, which is served with tartar sauce, shredded cabbage, and carrots. If you're in the mood for something lighter, there's plenty of salads, soups and baked potatoes to keep even the strictest vegans appeased. One of the things that made Waterloo a household name, however, was the music, and over the years many big names have graced this restaurants humble stage. No matter what location you choose, you're sure to find some great live music playing, mostly local bands, homegrown right here in Austin.
