Pop art, ancient art, Asian art, Renaissance art, African and Pacific Islands art are just a few of the many types of art featured at The Baltimore Museum of Art. While your Baltimore apartment may sport plenty of great prints and a few original pieces, this museum is filled with impressive art of over 90,000 pieces. Paintings, sculpture, photographs, prints and decorative art are all represented at this excellent art museum. Established in 1914, the museum today has a collection that's not rivaled often. With the largest holding of works by Henri Matisse in the world, other notable artist works surround his. Paintings by Georgia O'Keefe and Andy Warhol, recognized American artists, are found here, as well as European artists Sandro Botticelli, Rembrandt van Rijn, and Sir Anthony van Dyck. Masterpieces by Pablo Picasso, Vincent Van Gogh and Paul Cezanne are hung on the walls of this impressive museum. In addition to the art on the walls is a fine collection of more than 5,000 textiles. Needle work, quilts, laces, furnishings, costumes and tapestries are all represented here, in a remarkable display fashion. Over 2,000 years of textiles, including the tools used to develop the particular projects are featured here. And if sculpture is your forte in art, the three acre sculpture garden in the heart of the city will provide you with plenty of viewing time. Thirty four sculptures are located on a two terraced area just outside the museum doors. The sculptures range in age and representations from Auguste Rodin's striding "Balzac" (1892) to George Rickey's "Space Churn with Spheres" (1972).
