Baton Rouge apartment-ites know that part of what makes its town so famous is that it's the home of one of the most heralded colleges in the nation. Louisiana State University has become well known throughout the nation for both its academic programs and athletics, but one thing that many visitors do not know about the college is it happens to hold a wide collection of some of the best art in the region. The Louisiana State University Museum of Art houses over 3 thousand different pieces of art, from ancient silvers, to Chinese stone, to paintings by Louisianans, the museum has a little something for everybody. The LSU Museum of Art features many works from around the world, but it always keeps its heart firmly planted in Louisiana. Many of the artists that grace the walls of this gallery make, or made, their home in this great state, many living in the very same town as the Baton Rouge apartment residents. The collection includes a number of items made by Louisiana painters, sculpture and other artistic works from people from all over Louisiana, including a number of gorgeous landscapes and portraits, and also features the largest collection of work by a number of LSU teachers, including Robert Warrens, James Burk, Sidney Barret, as well as a number of former LSU graduate students. They also have a fine number of pieces of pottery, paintings, metalwork and other artistic items from Newcomb College in New Orleans, as well as New Orleans silver from 1830 to 1861. Of course, being connected so to a college, the museum also offers plenty of opportunities to teach a little something to those who want to come visit. School children can come in to learn more about the art world, as well as the artistic talent inside of each of them, as well as learning important lessons in Mathematics, English, and Social Studies, all while having a great time. They also have touring artists and special days for University staff. There are a number of fantastic opportunities to learn while having a fun time at the Louisiana State University Museum of Art. Baton Rouge apartment-ites looking to learn more about the artistic world around them, and in particular the art of their very own region, won't find a better place to do so than the Louisiana State University Museum of Art, where all the best artists in the state put their works on display for all the city to take in.
