All of the gardens are broken up into three categories: Gardens of Collection, Gardens of Nature, and Gardens of Culture. The Gardens of Nature feature plants grown natively in the region, and gardens include the Kaul Wildflower Garden, featuring over 400 different trees, vines, shrubs, annual and perennial wild flowers, including the trout lily, the mountain laurel, and the sweetshrub. Finally the Gardens of Culture feature gardens that have more to do with functionality than beauty, and feature several herb gardens, vegetable gardens, and gardens to teach home owners horticulture.
