Though when most people think of Ohio, lush green wonderland is not one of the first phrases that spring to mind, but for Cincinnati apartment-ites wanting to take a trip through beautiful flowers and greenery, they're in luck. One place still bringing the beautiful colors of nature every spring is the Hauck Botanical Garden. Formally the estate of horticultural pioneer Cornelius J. Hauck, it's now the best spot in town to take a walk amongst the flowers, savoring the sweet aroma and finding yourself in awe of the beautiful colors that surround you. There are few better places in Cincinnati to explore the natural world. There's never a dull moment at the Hauck Botanical Garden, and for fans of flora, there's no way you can take it in all in just one trip. Housing over 900 different species of plant life, including flowers, trees, evergreens and other types of vegetation, you'll be coming back again and again to explore new and interesting species. This is of particular note considering that this area was formally a dumping ground for the soot and debris that lingered over from the factories across the way. Now all signs of the industrial complex are gone, and all that's left is the beautiful colors and smells of the vegetation, which will be sure to take your breath away. There are numerous types of plant life on display at the Hauck Botanical Gardens, and every one of them makes for a relaxing, while entertaining, stroll. Most of plants in the garden are those which grow here naturally, which you can find in the Wildlife Garden. Other gardens within the garden which are sure to catch your eye are the Frank Wilmot Memorial Daylily Collection, the Hobson daffodil collection, the All-American dahlia garden, and the Hosta garden, as well as numerous other places to discover. Also on display are the Tree and shrub collections, which both provide shade and beauty for visitors to the park. It includes a fine collection of beeches, oaks, including the exceedingly rare Lea's Oak, magnolias, azaleas, and other native trees, all of which are breathtaking works of natural beauty. If you're tired of walking and want to take a load off and admire it all from a seat, go ahead and relax at the English Tea House, a replica of the 1939 World's Fair Building, or prop your feet up on the patio. Any way you choose to explore the garden, you'll be sure to have an amazing time marveling at the majestic beauty of all the different plant species on display, all just a few short miles from your Cincinnati apartment. The natural world comes to vibrant life at the Hauck Botanical Gardens, and there's no place better for fans of flora to take a pleasant stroll in the woods.
