When one thinks Mexican, most people think quick taco stands, burrito huts or enchilada or tamale houses, whose food you can probably just as easily cook up with just a little effort in your own Cincinnati apartment. If you take a trip downtown to one of the newest restaurants around, Nada, you can learn what real Mexican is all about. An amazing adventure of upscale Mexican flavors await you at this newcomer to the city's food scene, but the owner of acclaimed restaurant Boca, where the only thing more spectacular than the atmosphere is the food. If you like Mexican food, or would like to know what real Mexican food really tastes like, take a ride down to Nada. You'll find it's well worth the trip. No matter what time of day you come in for a meal at Nada, there's always something hot and fresh waiting for you, whether its late night, lunchtime, dinner time, or the midday rush. Though they have numerous different menus, the dinner menu holds the most enticing dishes. Start you meal with something traditional, such as chips and queso, chicken taquitos, or guacamole, or you can try something more original, such as their nada sliders, with ground tenderloin, steamed onions, jalapenos and queso, the Mexican mac and cheese, ceviche of shrimp, squid, orange and chipotle, or the sope, made from crispy masa boats, short ribs, salsa, cotija cheese, and pickled onions. You can also choose a fresh salad from the ensalad menu, if you're in the mood for something a bit more healthy. Coming to main courses, you have a number of options, from the usual to the more unique. Of course, they have one of the most traditional dishes in Mexican food, the taco, but cooked up in interested ways, made with pork, chicken, barbacoa, and mahi mahi, and you can ever get them in a vegetarian. Other delicious options include the chimichurry braised lamb shoulder, braised with mint and oregano, and served with cinnamon-fire roasted tomato rice, or the tinga poblano, chicken and chorizo with spicy tomato and poblano rice, pork green chile, with salsa verde and poblano rice, salmon vera cruz, with capers, swiss chard, tomato, rice and pickled vegetables, grilled adobo rubbed pork chop, with mashed plantains, poblano rajas, and orange habanero demiglace. Make sure to save some room for their delicious Mexican desserts as well, including mojito sorbet, caramel flan, made with Kahlua caramel custard, warm chocolate tort, or key lime cheesecake with spicy berry sauce.
