Where else can one expect to not only feast on some of the best steak in all of the Lone Star state, but also view the signature of 1833's Mexican president Antonio Lopez de Santa Anna (inventor of chewing gum and 'known opium addict')? Throw down the remote control and get out of the apartment, friend, we've got some steak eating to do! Taste of Texas might as well be dubbed the house that steak built. Want to choose your personal Ribeye by the ounce from the butcher before it's cooked? No problem. Prefer to leave your culinary fate in the chef's hands? Relax as a tender center cut filet adorns your plate, bacon wrapped and accompanied by a splash of béarnaise sauce. Don't want to break the bank? How about an Angus steak sandwich, served on a toasted Shiner Bock whole wheat bun with fresh cut fries for $12.95? Taste of Texas is sure to deliver, regardless of your taste and price level, even if that literally means you need them to deliver (they ship to just about anywhere in the U.S.). For all of the delectable livestock at your fingertips, Taste of Texas' museum artifacts (and wine list) truly put the restaurant into a league of its own. From Sam Houston's signed "I Am Houston" calling card to legitimate Republic of Texas currency (not likely to be accepted tableside), you're apt to find something for both your stomach and your intellect.
