When many people think of theater, many of them think of elaborate musicals, or the lavish works of Shakespeare, but for Indianapolis apartment residents wanting to experience the world of theater that many people never see, take a trip out to the Indianapolis Repertory Theater. The shows put on by this theater company are those outside of the world of the musical or the Shakespearean drama, but instead take on important issues and controversial subjects that many of the larger production houses just wouldn't cover. Though they may not have the budget as some of the works on the bigger stages, the Repertory Theater still has a few surprises up their sleeves, and is plenty ready to take you into worlds you've never been before, and that you simply won't want to leave. At the Indianapolis Repertory Theater, they strive to make theater that gets audiences thinking, and though the theater is quite enjoyable, it gives audiences an opportunity for viewers to get a better look at themselves as individuals, by providing a mirror through which to view themselves. They also hope to inspire those who come to see their shows, to show them insights into human nature that they cannot find anywhere else, and maybe perhaps even face fears within themselves that they never thought were there. Mostly, though, they strive to satisfy and entertain every patron that comes through the doors, offering them pieces of themselves to have and to hold, and leave them with images and stories that Indianapolis apartment-ites won't soon forget. Over the years, the theater has put on productions of some of the classics of stage, as well as many adaptation of popular literary works, and get some of the best actors in the entire state to come on stage and do their thing to the best of their ability. The theater has received several important awards and grants, including a National Endowment for the Arts, the Lila-Wallace-Reader's Digest Fund grant, the Schubert Foundation Grant, and the Theater Communications Group-Pew Charitable Trust Grant, and has received a Joyce Award for their work. This theater has had the honor of being declared the "Theater Laureate" of the state of Indiana, so if you're going to see theater in this state, this is the place to do it. Let a little culture into your life, it will do you good.
