Art fans in Jacksonville would have to be crazy to pass up this artistic treasure trove. The collections at the Cummer Museum feature work from all across the US, as well as most of the Europe, representing a number of different styles, eras and media. Their collection of European art stretches from the twelfth century all the out to the twentieth, featuring works by some of the top names in the world, and several kinds of medium. The American Collection features work dating back from the founding of the country to work being made just years ago, and features prominently the work of American Impressionists, Regionalists, and Aschan School artists such as Henri, Bellows Glakens. They also have a grand collection of Meissen Porcelain, as well as a collection devoted entirely to antiques. They also feature special collections including a collection Japanese woodblock prints as well collections of paintings by James McVey, Joseph Jeffers Dodge, and Eugene Louis Charvot donated by their very own family members. Art fans will go crazy for just all the beautiful pieces on display at this, the biggest museum in the area, holding over 6,000 unique pieces, each with something different to intrigue and awe Jacksonville apartment-ites, who will want to visit again and again to take in all the brand new works that make their way through every month.
