Mitchell Park Conservatory

The recently renovated Mitchell Park Conservatory will make people of Milwaukee apartments proud. The three domed conservatory features three climates - Arid, Tropical and a "Show Dome." The three beehive-shaped domes encompass 45,000 square feet, which is probably larger than the total coverage of your Mitchell Park Conservatory apartments. The domes are 145 feet across and 85 feet high. Renovations in 2008 replaced 800 cracked glass panels, reconfigured the entry lobby, restored indoor and outdoor lighting and revamped the parking lot. The Show Dome is the most renowned for its five times a year shows that it hosts. A favorite show for Mitchell Park Conservatory apartment dwellers is the winter show that features an extensive garden railway system. The shows are based on literary, cultural or historical themes and have gorgeous floral displays. The Tropical Dome features plants not seen often by Milwaukee apartment residents such as mahogany and ebony trees and a rare curare vine. Banana, papaya, avocado, guava and cacao trees produce fruit as a source of revenue for the conservatory. The Arid Dome takes people who live in Mitchell Park Conservatory apartments to the deserts of Africa, Madagasgar and North and South America. This is where you can see many varieties of succulents, cacti and many plant oddities. Situated on sixty acres, the Mitchell Park Conservatory is a "must see" for residents of Milwaukee apartments, if not for the plants, for the sheer beauty of the architecture.
