In the shadow of many of the larger museum of New York, such as the Museum of Modern Art or the Guggenheim, smaller museums can sometimes be lost in the clutter, but apartment-ites are missing a lot by not giving smaller museums a chance. One such small museum that is offering up some breathtaking works of art is the Frick Collection, a small gallery that may not have much in terms of size, but more than makes up for it in quality of work. Focusing mostly on European works, some of most famous works in history adorn the walls of this gallery, and art fans would be insane to pass this up. Paintings by some fo the top names in art hang on the walls inside the Frick Collection, most of which consists of European works composed before the dawning of the twentieth century. A trip to view these works is liking stepping back in time, to a completely different world from the one we live in today. Artists featured in this gallery include such big names as Jan Van Eyk, James McNeil Whistler, Diego Velasquez, El Greco, Fracisco Goya, and even Rembrandt, as well works by Vermeer and Fragonard. This small collection houses some of the finest works of art from before the twentieth century, and fans of art history won’t find a better place to research these paintings, either, considering the location also features a large library for studying the works. Though it’s easy to overlook the Frick Collection with all the other museums in New York, apartment-ites who are fans of art would be hurting themselves by not checking this one out.
