Northridge Overview
Northridge, is located in the beautiful San Fernando Valley of Los Angeles County. Northridge has a little bit of everything for residents in all demographics. Whether you are looking for a bustling city with a top-notch university, a city with a spacious family center or are into outdoor activities, you will feel right at home in Northridge. Between beautiful weather, a thriving economy and affordable apartments in Northridge, this lovely Los Angeles locale has legitimate mass appeal. Apartments in Northridge provide quick and easy access to all the amenities of Los Angeles, are affordably priced and have much more space than most assume.
What is the history of Northridge?
"Most people are surprised to learn Northridge was originally referred to as ""Zelzah"" by the area's initial settlers back in 1908. The location was subsequently renamed as North Los Angeles in the late 1920s. However, this moniker made it unclear as to whether the area was in Los Angeles or North Hollywood. Fast forward to 1938 and Carl Dentzel, a local civic leader, renamed the area as Northridge Village. As time progressed, the name of the area was gradually shortened to Northridge. NorthridgeÆs roots extend all the way back to the people known as the Tongva, who were followed by Spanish Explorers. In fact, the Northridge area was once sold by Pio Pico, the governor of Mexico, to Eulogio de Celis, who passed it on to his heirs. The area was resold and is now a neighborhood within the city limits of Los Angeles."
